KENZO Dips Into Its Glittering Archive for Brand New Sneaker KENZO Move
KENZO received a new lease of life when Carol Lim and Humberto Leon took over as the brand's Creative Directors and now the duo has announced the launch of a new archive inspired sneaker that keeps up the momentum: KENZO Move.
Loud prints and extravagant designs are an important part of KENZO's rich history dating back almost 50 years and as part of the La Collection Memento N°1 project, it's dipped into its glittering back catalog to revive concepts originally conceived by founder Kenzo Takada.
Carol Lim & Humberto LeonWith the versatility that sneakers play in everyday life and for all occasions, we were excited to include the KENZO Move in “La Collection Memento N° 1”. By using an archival tiger motif and creating the new shape of the sneaker, we feel like this sneaker is perfectly relevant for today.
KENZO will release the sneaker in unisex red, royal blue, mint and black as well as a pink variation for women and navy for men. The silhouette features a tonal or contrast waffle sole, depending on the colorway. If they're anywhere near as popular as the sweatshirts when they first released, the sneaker could sell out almost instantly.
Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have made a point of honoring Kenzo Takada’s legacy since they joined the brand six years ago and La Collection Memento N°1 is just another way they're channeling KENZO's original spirit. Takada founded the brand in 1970 after arriving in Paris from Japan six years earlier. Since its founding, KENZO has helped establish a freer, more democratic fashion industry and opened the door for other emerging foreign designers coming to Paris. La Collection Memento N°1 retells that rich history.
