Self Edge / Dry Bones / Superfuture

28 February 2009, 21.41 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

This morning I stopped by Self Edge, in SF, to check out the new denim they are dropping at noon today. The jean has been produced by Dry Bones, one of Japan’s longest running vintage Americana style denim manufacturers along with Superfuture. The guys at the shop said months were spent getting the denim exactly where we wanted it and the denim was woven specifically for this project; as the denim has never before been used on another garment nobody knows exactly how it will age. I picked up a pair before the shop opened and really excited to break them in.

The guys packing pre-orders before the shop opens. Most were gone before it even hit the shelves.

The tag alone is worth it! Golden gate bridge with a Japanese block print wave - ill!

Thanks for the early hook up!

Vimby My Backyard

I just got back from Las Vegas. A few days of walking around a trade show tires you out. I was pleasantly surprised to find this video waiting for me when I got back. Satva, from Vimby, was nice enough to come through and do a studio tour of my office and then hit the streets for a skate session. The video is a day in my life - welcome to my backyard. I am NEVER going to grow up.

Wrench Pilot

13 February 2009, 18.53 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

The other day I dropped off an original Wrench Pilot drawing I purchased from Andy Jenkins. The Wrench Pilot series in Transworld was one of the main reasons I started to draw as a kid. I am so exited to own an original. When it comes back from the frame shop I will post some more pics.

Do you remember the shirt that Andy was nice enough to create for my line? It’s still one of my favorites!

Xpoz

Arizona has a lot going on right now. The High Point store is killing it, a new clothing venture named Dearly Departed is making moves and Xpoz Magazine is putting out a really good publication. I might be a little biased because I am involved in all 3 things, but I am really impressed with what’s coming out of Az. right now. Check the new issue of Xpoz Magazine, for quick interview they did with me and keep an eye out on the Grand Canyon State for big things.

City Grounds Logo

06 February 2009, 22.07 | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 comments »

I recently designed a logo for a new bike shop in Long Beach, Ca. City Grounds caters to the fixed gear city cyclist, so I combined a city building with a bicycle tire as the head badge for their logo — the tire treads work well as the windows for the building. I’m drawn to logos that push the brand concept by combining two objects that don’t normally go together. Next time you’re in Long Beach, stop by the shop and have a look around.

The new Brixton catalog is out and look who ended up in it. They were nice enough to ask me to be a part of it. It looks like my dog Levi stole the shot thou. Thanks to Gabe Morford for taking the portrait.
