City Skate Park Meeting

06 March 2009, 19.16 | Posted in Uncategorized | 5 comments »

Last night was the city meeting about the new skate park that is going in under one of sf’s busy overpasses. I was really happy to see a good amount of street skaters come out to show their support. The skate scene really wants to see a park dedicated to SF’s rich street skating history. Many of SF’s skate spots have been removed years ago by the city, but have been replicated in contest and street style plazas all over the world. It is only right that the SF skate park brings home some of it’s lost obstacles. Hopefully it works out the way we want it it to. It’s a hard battle because a street plaza is not what a city official thinks a skate park should look like. Wish us luck.

  1. YAY! SFSC!! BUILD IT!!!

  2. Sick!
Bring back Hubba’s and the EMB ledges!

  3. BDK:

Errray..Bring back the Dish. HP repersent

  4. Replica spots would be epic…the Dish, Hubba and EMB ledges would not only be skated like mad they would also be a history lesson for the young kids.

Plus, think of the potential for contests and events. Who wouldn’t want to have a killer contest in SF and legally skate Hubba? A throw back Dish contest with Tommy, Natas and the Sick Boys…are you kidding me? People would go NUTS.

  5. little too late for these old knees but i say make it however the “kids” want it…just make sure skaters are involved in the actual design/construction…t
