The Hundreds: A Tribute To Hardcore Collaboration Shirt

27 May 2009, 02.04 | Posted in Uncategorized |

Skateboarding and punk rock has been played a huge part of my life. Having a brand is a great medium to express yourself and hopefully get people excited about the stuff that you find really inspiring. This is my collaboration shirt with The Hundreds for their Tribute To Hardcore series. The shirt will be releasing at both The Hundreds San Francisco and Los Angeles stores on Thursday May 28th. The graphic is based on few things that really stuck out to me growing up: The rawness of a concert flyer and the bands like Gorilla Biscuitsand Bold that adorned them.

Much respect for not TOTALLY lifting the imagery and tweaking it just enough to show the roots and still give it your own spin. right or wrong, i think a lot of people rooted more firmly in hardcore than streetwear are pretty bummed at some of the recent outright lifts of imagery (crimson ghosts, album covers in their entirety, bad brains X everyone, arguably even the COS tee in this little collection). i mean, it seems like HR is just chasing money these days, and the man did rage on rock for light so i guess he gets a pass, but the others…i dunno. i guess ultimately it\’s not too different from my take on straight edge, it\’s a totally personal choice. regardless, both yours and the FC tee in this collection aren\’t even a part of that conversation because you did it the right way.

lulz @ calling the crimson ghost original to the misfits

what\’s up with the chain of strength shirt? any background on that? absolutely laughable. and the bad brains shirt!? LA isn\’t allowed touch New York Hardcore.

chain of strength is from huntington beach so, dont hate on LA or i should say cali hardcore in general. Why isn\’t LA allowed to touch NYHC? Revelation is based in huntington beach. GB, COS BOLD, JUDGE, just to name a few are all on rev recs, all NYHC bands. if you dont own judge\’s chung king can suck it, you dont know shit. and like it says its a tribute to hardcore, its what influences these brands. Showcasing where they are coming from. nuff said
