On Corporate Patronage…

28 January 2009, 23.01 | Posted in Uncategorized |

Recently, I wrote a piece for Black Lodges to share my thoughts on corporate patronage and the deluge of “Brand x Artist” collaborations that floods this little space we call “streetwear.” You can find it here. I hope you’ll enjoy it and that you’ll contribute your own ideas and feelings to the discussion. Many thanks to Steven for giving me the forum.

If we can pierce through the hype and renew a respect for the old-fashioned notions of quality and innovation, perhaps we begin to push back against the mediocrity that thrives in today’s market. “-C.S.

soooo on point although I might dare to say that the tougher economic times and the growing environmental concerns might just be one of the catalysts that might push this generation to pay closer attention to value, craftmanship, quality instead of novelty for novelty’s sake.
A road to conscious consumption maybe?
