I recently stumbled upon Petite Noir. Hailing from South Africa and being one half of the duo Popskar, Yannick Ilunga makes beautiful ethereal African tinged 80’s influenced music. He sits some where between a Twin Shadow and Peter Gabriel at times with a sound that he calls Noir Wave. These 2 songs are haunting, unique and make me actually believe it hasn’t all been done yet.

Petite Noir is another example of how close the world has become via the Internet. I found this trolling music sites one day and tracked them down.His love for HipHop, streetwhere and skateboarding made me feel like all cultures are closer than ever, a metaphor for his music in a sense. I am beyond awaiting Yannicks EP which should be due in the next 2 months.

Here’s my man and Action Bronson Co-hort Meyhem Lauren’s first release from his forthcoming project Respect The Fly Shit due later this month featuring Das racist Heems and his Outdoorsman brother Action Bronson. Yet another Harry Fraud-produced stomper recorded during SXSW at the Embassy suites room 423 to be exact. Blue Chips was created in a 3 week period this winter in Party Supplies humble chalet in Willyburger Brooklyn. The project sits somewhere in the neither world between a album and a mixtape. it was created with no thought of sample clearance, hit songs or sales expectations but rather as a trippy journey through the warped minds of Party Supplies and Action Bronson. Created between bong hits and cheese plates Blue Chips features collaborations with Das Racist, Meyhem Lauren and Roc Marci and was 100 pct done spontaneously with no over dubbing whatsoever.
