Today is John Coltranes Birthday, he would have been 84 today if he had not passed in 1967. His music had a profound influence on my life, he proved spirituality can exist in music on a deep level. His music changed my life, made me love jazz and is one of the greatest gifts my father ever bestowed upon me. His music has let me know I am not alone in the world many times and all sans any vocals. His music is steeped with emotion,spirituality and a sense of import that music rarely hints at. Salute you Mr. Coltrane I can hear you blowing way up in heaven and I can feel it touching my heart and soul thank you so much!

Tight ass show had decent tickets and totally enjoyed myself all for free. I dug Em’s set design it was pretty epic. Jay had better sound and a more star studded guest lineup though seeing Dre rock with Em was pretty fresh. Dug Kanye’s guest appearance way more than expected. Hated Nicki Minaj’s baloney, she sucks…weird seeing a rap show in Yankee stadium who would have thunk it 30 years ago when this thing called HipHop started right?

I wasn’t so psyched on the vavatos in CB’s thing but that said I had a blast and I got to see one of my favorite teen age proto punk acts Alice Cooper in addition. I didn’t get to footage of Alice cause my camera died which sucked hairy moose balls….He did 18 and Schools Out,I felt like getting in a drunken teenage fight it was epic. I missed capturing any of it of course but I did get some video of these dudes right here Senor William Gibbons and his boy Dusty Hill aka ZZ TOP
