Beijing for a bit

31 August 2009, 19.08 | Posted in Trips | No comments »

Was in Beijing for a bit over the weekend.
A few friends to meet up with, a few stores to check out.

Saw the English furniture company HALO’s exhibit at the Crossover Center.

Quite a few pieces caught my eyes.
My heart was saying “yes”, while my credit card was screaming “you must be kidding!”

Sam’s SUBCREW did a lil’ collabo with Mini-Cooper.
The graphic-covered Mini was put on show at SanLiTun.

That shark-sub, you’ll see it more and more for sure.
How would I know? Oh I know….haha

Hang Zhou City, China

Hopped over to Hang Zhou City for the weekend.
A beautiful city just 1.5hr away from Shanghai by train, Hang Zhou is one of the fastest growing cities in Mainland China.

Take the boat to the Xi Hu (West Lake), enjoy the scenery for an afternoon, that’s what some people do when they go visit HangZhou. I did that many years ago, so no, didn’t do it this time.

Enjoyed the time looking at the greens instead of the computer screen.

Oh well, back to Shanghai, back to work!

Yokohama. LA MACHINE

Came to YOKOYAMA.
Just in time to check out their Yokohama Port 150th Anniversary Exhibition.
Needless to say the weekend there was crowded.

The show stopper was Francois Delaroziere’s La Machine.

Unlike the Transformers, this giant machine doesn’t transformer itself into anything. It is, however, a robotic performer that needs 8 people to control and “dance” to the music.

The sky was so blue, I was lucky that the weather has been great while I’m Tokyo so far.

Diet Butcher…. most sizes were sold out.

Finished my day with this for dinner. It was like $12usd….

Tsukiji. Tokyo.

Woke up early to go check out Tsukiji.
This district of Tokyo is mostly known for its fish market.

If you love sashimi, this is the place to go for the freshest raw fish.

I came across this store where folks were lining up in front.
With a small table set up in front, people can buy the raw seafood and eat it right there. Talk about fresh!

I had a few of these. My favorite sashimi!!! I picked them up and the store owner immediately prepared for me. It doesnt get fresher than this. Yummmm…

A nice temple that I passed by. Dont know much about it though.

If you are interested to visit Tsukiji, bare in mind the market opens at 4:30am, and closes at 11am… dont sleep on this.

Shibuya. Tokyo

14 August 2009, 19.56 | Posted in Trips | No comments »

Paid Tokyo another visit since my last trip here over a year ago.
This intersection in Shibuya is still as crazy as it has ever been.

Picked up the Sneaker Tokyo book by Shoes Master. A nice book for the collection.

Scored some videos for Yoyo as well, I’m sure she’ll enjoy these.

Sushi, how can I not go nutz on these when I’m in Japan??

Spent about 6 hrs on subway train commutes today…. so many ads on the trains..

Staple x NB 575 / Beijing Day 1

10 August 2009, 20.26 | Posted in Sneakers, Trips | No comments »

August 22nd, SoleGoodz will have this latest collaboration between Jeff’s Staple Design and New Balance available for sale.
The White Pigeon 575. Dont miss out.

As for me, I arrived to Beijing again this afternoon.
Meeting up with a few friends in town, cooking and planning.

Joleigh took us to Dali Restaurant inside Xiao Jing Chang Hutong.
This is inside a group of old (broken) houses in the Hutong.
Who knew inside such a pile of old houses near stores like Blinking and Deal there’s such a peaceful place for Yun-Nan cusine??

Thank you, Joleigh, for leading the way.

SOLEGOODZ officially opened 2 weekends ago, didn’t have time to show some pics until today.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support us that rainy day. Much appreciated.
SoleGoodz will be bringing you special selections down the road. Hope this store can present the sneakers differently than how you see them in the corporate branded stores.

If you ever make it out to Shanghai, hit us up.
SoleGoodz is at 351 Zi Zhong Road, right next to Xin Tian Di.

adFunture x G-SHOCK: SHOCK THE WORLD Collab

When we were asked to collaborate with G-SHOCK, we decided to design a new character. Instead of putting, squeezing the design on a watch strap, we went back to a t-shirt platform. For SHOCK THE WORLD Shanghai, SHOCKA makes its appearance on this G-SHOCK x adFunture collaboration tee.

Expect to find this available next weekend via our website.

As for SHOCKA, expect to see more of it sooner or later.

SHOCK THE WORLD” tour by G-SHOCK will hit Shanghai this coming Friday.

ICONIC-1 is one of the partners in this year’s event, and from today onwards, all purchases from the store will be accompanied by a G-SHOCK x ICONIC-1 tote bag. A neat lil’ item.
