City visits and a few pairs of kicks

10 November 2011, 12.16 | Posted in China, Sneakers, Trips | 1 comment »

Visited GuangZhou City quite a few times, mostly for work. This time I went for a buddy’s wedding, and was brought to some places I never went before, which was refreshing.

What looks to me like a space center (really, in outta space) was actually GZ’s opera house. I was amazed. I was amazed to see this as a government-owned structure.

This would make a neat office/studio.. ahem….

IFC building. So, Hong Kong, Shanghai and GuangZhou now each have their own IFC… Trying to out-do each other I see.

Amazing night view.
I’d like to go back to GZ again soon. I’m sure I missed a few beautifull venues. The food there is great as well, if you have a chance to visit China, GZ would make a neat lil’stop.

Shoes. Yeah, you guys like shoes. Let’s see what we have here.

Should I call these “dress shoes”? I don’t know what this type of shoes are called. Just leather shoes, I guess. I do like what APWS did with the blend of materials on this one though. APWS is an up and coming shoes label in Asia.

Woven Footscapes, us Asians love the Woven Footscapes. The latest collection have some nice colors, and this I like the best out of the 3. Love the leather texture on these.

I got these sent to our studio, which I found really interesting. New work by Visvim. Visvim is still pushing the boundaries, which I respect very much. I still wear my FBTs and 7-Holes Boot.

Undefeated Clydes

19 September 2011, 12.22 | Posted in China, Sneakers | 2 comments »

The UNDEFEATED x PUMA Clydes were officially released in Mainland China yesterday, finally. Shanghai and Beijing were the only 2 cities that had stocks to offer. I went to the launch event to check them out, and also took a look at the Clyde Exhibition PUMA had arranged at the venue. The UNDFTD Clydes are nice, there’s no question about that. 8 styles were available, and I could have walked out with at least 3 styles (black, white and beige, with the olive colorway being my fourth choice) if I was in a buying-mood. Respect to UNDFTD for their choice of colors and materials chosen. Check out some of the photos I took. Quite random though.

G-Shock x adFunture: Master of G figures

21 July 2011, 12.53 | Posted in Apparel, China, Design, Toys | 2 comments »

As previously introduced, adFunture worked with G-Shock on a series of 4 figures this Summer. The series titled “Master of G” has its design concept directly linked to 4 G-Shock iconic watch models; Gulfman, Mudman, Frogman and Riseman. Each character was inspired by the various functions of each G-Shock Master of G watch models. The figures can also serve as a watch holder, designed for those G-Shock collectors who would like to display their watches at home or the office. These figures were designed and produced by adFunture Workshop for G-Shock, and were given to consumers when they buy a watch at selected G-Shock retail stores.

Shanghai. After Dark

25 April 2011, 19.12 | Posted in China | No comments »

Am in Shanghai right now, actually, am in Shanghai most of the time. This is an amazing city, ever changing. Still have much to “improve” on, but is slowly getting there.

Sometimes, I do forget where I am though. I mean, the business that we do, the lifestyle we try to introduce, are still very green in this country. Grinding at our work everyday, sometimes I forget that most of the people in the country, in the city, see us as “odd”.

Taken from a local resturant, the moment I saw this wooden window frame, I paused. Yeah, I’m in “China”.

Because most of where I usually go in Shanghai, has new structures.

So much new grounds still in development. This is one of the spots I recently visited. Very nice, very clean. I wouldn’t mind putting our office on this street. (very expensive though, so, no.)

Most of the time, I look at Shanghai after the sun went down.
When the sun goes to sleep, another side of Shanghai awakes.

G-SHOCK’s SHOCK THE WORLD Shanghai

26 September 2010, 18.34 | Posted in China, Events | No comments »

G-SHOCK’s SHOCK THE WORLD event came to Shanghai again. This one was even better than last year’s. Great party, met up with lots of old friends at the venue. As the watch for youths, even in Mainland China, G-Shock is second to none.

This was me with Chai from G-Shock, this was before I got drunk. Luckily, I am never a mean drunk…

Yoyo was rocking her pink Baby-G! Nice to hear that her JING Dance Studio is doing great.

Always a plus to any event, Sam Lee from SUBCREW was spinning at the event~

Went silent on you again for a while, but I was working hard all the way through….

In between official YOKA Series production, I did a small capsule for SIZE Magazine in China, an edition of 30pcs all sprayed by yours truly. I was never a real artist myself, but I think these came out okay.

New Balance sent over something that they knew I was waiting for ever since the tradeshow! The MA-1 inspired MT580, due out this A/W. Love the color combo and the Gore-Tex outter doesn’t hurt neither. Much much thanks to da boyz. I love it!

Shanghai. After all these years, how do you think it looks like? Still a farm land of sort? Nah.

Check out how Shanghai looks like at night.

Rosa, a great help from our studio. She gave me the bad news about her having to leave the company, BUT, the great side to that was that she’ll be going to Italy to continue on with her education. That, I absolutely support!

I went to Cheng Du City last month, this is one of the shots that I took, one that I like more. These were made with cow-skins, these were used as light-puppets from decades ago. Pretty nice.

You’d want to see more designer figures in this blog, huh? Sorry. You wait, my friends. Just wait.

adFunture x Family Mart: YOKA FOOTBALL 2010

28 May 2010, 10.27 | Posted in China, Toys | No comments »

We were quiet on the toy front for a while, that was because we were working on this new YOKA series for FAMILY MART. A 10-variants soccer-themed series, these will be available in FAMILY MART Stores in Mainland China starting June 1st til July 31st of 2010.

Very happy to work with the convenience store chain, as this will give us the opportunity to put YOKA in front of a more mainstream audience. Not about to go mainstream, but would definitely want to see their responses to what we do. Unfortunately, for our YOKA collectors in other countries, we cannot distribute this series internationally as these are exclusively for FM. We do have something else for you all, will show you that next week.

USAIN BOLT 19.76

23 May 2010, 19.50 | Posted in China, Events | No comments »

Been here in Shanghai for 8 years, and tonite was my first time going into Shanghai Stadium to watch an event. How slow am I??

DIAMOND LEAGUE, that was the event.
Usain Bolt was running the 200m race. That’s why a bunch of PUMA friends went, and I was lucky enough to get a ticket from them. I must admit, I’m no fan of track events, but this was a good experience。

Stay busy, Armin!

Jeter being interviewed after her win. Needless to say, she is FAST~~

Here’s the reason why we were there.

I missed my shot~!
He didn’t.
Set a new record for Shanghai’s 200m.
19.76 seconds, that’s all he needed to cover 200m.

Usain Bolt. 200m.
19.76secs.

And of course, there was Liu Xiang for 100m Hurdles event.
Crowd favorite, being in Shanghai and all.
However. No, shouldn’t say that. I should say: Hey, he came in 3rd!!
Congrats~!

Thx Julian and Armin for your kind invite.
I had fun~
