11 August 2011, 19.39 | Posted in Events, Trips | 2 comments »

Arrived Taipei City last night, and just in time for today’s “East vs West” Basketball Game hosted by Phantaci & Nike. East and West represent the 2 main districts in Taipei City. Each of the 2 teams were comprised by memebers of streetwear brands in its respective district. So, members of Phantaci, KenLu.Net, UnderPeace would be in the East Team. While on the West Team, has guys from VEIL, Remix, Overkill, Subcrew, Mania, SMG, etc. It was just for fun, most of the audience were from the different brands, this wasn’t opened to the public.

Sam and Frankie were there as well. Sam represented his Subcrew, played on our West Team.

Jukai represented VEIL. He played real hard~~ He tried, put it that way~

Indonesian artist, ARKIV, whom we have worked with on a number of occasions, will be opening his solo US exhibition at Toy Art Gallery in LA on Aug 5th. Not only will he be putting up quite alot of new artworks, his new figure made with adFunture, the SUMO, will also be available during this exhibition period. With Gino at Toy Art Gallery, we put together a first release of SUMO in form of a Black/Dark Gray colorway. 100 pieces exclusively made for TAG, and of course, to be sold exclusively by TAG as well. If you are still hunting for the ARKIV INSTANT figures we put out a while back, make sure you don’t let this SUMO slip your fingers this time.

Toy Art Gallery is proud to present “Escapist”, a solo show from renowned Indonesian artist Arkiv Vilmansa. The exhibit will feature new painted works, sculptures, limited edition prints and a special preview release and signing of the new figure “The Sumo”.

Arkiv looks to develop his signature image, while debuting new characters and continuing to explore his unique style of combining the surreal and theatrical with playful and whimsical caricature.”

adFunture will be back in Taipei for another exhibition next weekend. It has been some time since “adFunture Taipei 2006″, and a solo exhibit feels very different than those toy conventions like the beloved Taipei Toy Fest. After 5 years since the last solo, this time around we rounded up our friends from the Taiwan streetwear scene, and put together the “YOKA Taiwan Series”. A series that involved 12 clothing labels, and each designed their own variant of our YOKA panda. This series will be available at the opening event of our exhibition. Besides this new series, visitors to the exhibit, titled “We are One Human Race”, will also see something big and related to the title. Go see for yourself!

Charity Tee Collabo

The recent earthquakes in Japan have left many people homeless and families ruined. This is a dark time for humans, no matter which country you are from, this is not a Japan problem, but a humanity crisis. Is time like this we all need to join hands and help those in need. No one is an outsider in this matter.

A charity project started by Japanese design team DEVILROBOTS, “Help Japan” T-Shirt is now a 20-brands collaboration effort to raise funds to help the folks in need in JP after the earthquake. Hong Kong brand VEIL, along with fellow street labels such as Remix, Overkill, Mania, SMG, Phantaci are just some of the entities supporting this great cause.

This charity sale will go on in Taiwan. Support it if you have that opportunity. If not, pls find other ways to donate to Japan Red Cross.

Suitman and Wozzup

11 October 2010, 21.04 | Posted in Apparel, Events, Sneakers | No comments »

I was in Hong Kong again for a few days. It was an off-week in the Mainland due to National Holidays.

Met up with Young Kim aka Suitman over Korean BBQ dinner. I picked up my Suitman x Visvim Shirt from the man himself. The shirt has Suitman’s personal touch to it where he did the actual stitching, embroideries on the back of the shirt. Only 15 pieces were made this way. I’ll take more photos of it when I get back to the studio.

For those who will be in Shanghai on Oct 15th, Suitman will have a special exhibition at the DIESEL Store in Plaza66 that night. If you are in town, come check it out. 20 Years of Suitman, consider this exhibit a retrospect of the man’s works. I’m sure it will be another great event, and I’m excited already!

Another shoe on this blog. Why not?!

A collaboration between Guang-Zhou fixie team STAR TRACK and footwear label WOZZUP SNEAKER. This design is simple yet sharp. I quite like the shape of the shoe. I rarely wear non-sneaker styles, but I gave this a try and is quite comfy. This will drop next month in Asia.

G-SHOCK’s SHOCK THE WORLD Shanghai

26 September 2010, 18.34 | Posted in China, Events | No comments »

G-SHOCK’s SHOCK THE WORLD event came to Shanghai again. This one was even better than last year’s. Great party, met up with lots of old friends at the venue. As the watch for youths, even in Mainland China, G-Shock is second to none.

This was me with Chai from G-Shock, this was before I got drunk. Luckily, I am never a mean drunk…

Yoyo was rocking her pink Baby-G! Nice to hear that her JING Dance Studio is doing great.

Always a plus to any event, Sam Lee from SUBCREW was spinning at the event~

USAIN BOLT 19.76

23 May 2010, 19.50 | Posted in China, Events | No comments »

Been here in Shanghai for 8 years, and tonite was my first time going into Shanghai Stadium to watch an event. How slow am I??

DIAMOND LEAGUE, that was the event.
Usain Bolt was running the 200m race. That’s why a bunch of PUMA friends went, and I was lucky enough to get a ticket from them. I must admit, I’m no fan of track events, but this was a good experience。

Stay busy, Armin!

Jeter being interviewed after her win. Needless to say, she is FAST~~

Here’s the reason why we were there.

I missed my shot~!
He didn’t.
Set a new record for Shanghai’s 200m.
19.76 seconds, that’s all he needed to cover 200m.

Usain Bolt. 200m.
19.76secs.

And of course, there was Liu Xiang for 100m Hurdles event.
Crowd favorite, being in Shanghai and all.
However. No, shouldn’t say that. I should say: Hey, he came in 3rd!!
Congrats~!

Thx Julian and Armin for your kind invite.
I had fun~

JonOne in Shanghai

13 April 2010, 10.54 | Posted in China, Events | No comments »

JonOne and Mai were in town for the weekend. Really nice catching up with these two wonderful individuals. The trip was too short though, not much time for sight seeing and such.

Why was JonOne in Shanghai?

He was there, with Madame Magda, hosting an art performance in this amazing art house in the city of Shanghai. Inside an old house, you wouldn’t know what it is unless you walk in there. Beautiful place Madame Magda got there. Anyways, what was the performance? John did…

a little voodoo practicing… (yeah, black magic in Shanghai, good choice of location, John)

a little painting, with chinese ink.

and a little crying on the ground….

Ok ok, you are getting this from a guy who surely doesn’t know too much about performance art! But for those who knows JonOne, you know he did something really good.

John and Mai, see you next time when you visit! Great seeing you!
