The fall season is upon us, and is time to release some new goodies next month. For designer figures collectors, New York Comic-Con is just around the corner (Mid-Oct). adFunture will release the original vinyl designed by American creator Oliver Hibert.

Titled “Milton”, this character originally seen in London’s DesignersBlock back in 2008. That was when Oliver’s work for DesignersBlock at London’s Design Week was short-listed and exhibited in the “Designs of the Year Show” at the London Design Museum.
I was in London for adFunture London Guerilla Store around that time, when I saw Milton sitting on a huge outer wall of a building (didn’t know where I was). Came back to the hotel, and successfully dug up who designed Milton. Milton led me to Oliver’s world of art, and I was instantly impressed. I’m sure you’ll like Milton too.

As previously introduced, adFunture worked with G-Shock on a series of 4 figures this Summer. The series titled “Master of G” has its design concept directly linked to 4 G-Shock iconic watch models; Gulfman, Mudman, Frogman and Riseman. Each character was inspired by the various functions of each G-Shock Master of G watch models. The figures can also serve as a watch holder, designed for those G-Shock collectors who would like to display their watches at home or the office. These figures were designed and produced by adFunture Workshop for G-Shock, and were given to consumers when they buy a watch at selected G-Shock retail stores.

Continuing on with the introduction of adFunture x G-Shock “Master of G” figure series, here is model #003 code-named “DEEP SEA”. The inspiration for DEEP SEA came from G-Shock’s FROGMAN watch model. The diver watch can go as deep as 200m under water, FROGMAN now holds the World Record for its function and ability. On the DEEP SEA character, a new head sculpt was given and a pair of propellors were integrated into its legs.
As a series of 4 figures, the “Master of G” figures series is the third collaboration between adFunture and G-Shock. The first collaboration dated back to G-Shock’s 25th Anniversary back in 2008, that was when adFunture ask given the task of designing the Anniversary Watch Pack for G-Shock China.

adFunture will be back in Taipei for another exhibition next weekend. It has been some time since “adFunture Taipei 2006″, and a solo exhibit feels very different than those toy conventions like the beloved Taipei Toy Fest. After 5 years since the last solo, this time around we rounded up our friends from the Taiwan streetwear scene, and put together the “YOKA Taiwan Series”. A series that involved 12 clothing labels, and each designed their own variant of our YOKA panda. This series will be available at the opening event of our exhibition. Besides this new series, visitors to the exhibit, titled “We are One Human Race”, will also see something big and related to the title. Go see for yourself!

If you are in Taiwan this month, remember to grab a copy of COOL Magazine. On the back cover, you’ll see this adFunture YOKA image. COOL Magazine did a 4-page spread on adFunture and a small recap of the YOKAs we previously released. Really excited to see they gave us so much love. For the occasion, we gave some preview shots of the next new series of YOKAs to them to publish. Go check it out!

Anyone remember these?
I was going thru our adFunture Archive for a magazine coverage we have to do in Taiwan, and I came across the Dunk Hi adFunture did with SBTG back in 2004.

These came out back in 2004, and were sold via FreshnessMag. Titled “Boulevard”, 24 pairs were made. Sold out pretty quickly, like 10mins. Of course, this was back in 2004. Fast forward to 2011, that might take a bit longer than 10 mins. Not to say SBTG’s work on these weren’t great, they are very nice even when I look at them today, but the sneaker market has changed quite a bit since 2004 to say the least. I have good memories from this project, SBTG was cool with work with, very talented. It was project like this early on that set adFunture apart from other designer figures company back in da day, I suppose; adFunture was never just about designer figures. We make other things, projects, whatever that interest us. Is more of a reflection of our own livestyles, the ones who work in/with adFunture. Anyways, just wanted to put this up here for record sake. Been there, done that, next~ We should look forward.
