Anyone remember these?
I was going thru our adFunture Archive for a magazine coverage we have to do in Taiwan, and I came across the Dunk Hi adFunture did with SBTG back in 2004.

These came out back in 2004, and were sold via FreshnessMag. Titled “Boulevard”, 24 pairs were made. Sold out pretty quickly, like 10mins. Of course, this was back in 2004. Fast forward to 2011, that might take a bit longer than 10 mins. Not to say SBTG’s work on these weren’t great, they are very nice even when I look at them today, but the sneaker market has changed quite a bit since 2004 to say the least. I have good memories from this project, SBTG was cool with work with, very talented. It was project like this early on that set adFunture apart from other designer figures company back in da day, I suppose; adFunture was never just about designer figures. We make other things, projects, whatever that interest us. Is more of a reflection of our own livestyles, the ones who work in/with adFunture. Anyways, just wanted to put this up here for record sake. Been there, done that, next~ We should look forward.

Showed the samples long ago, but the products we made Hong Kong company Protest Design Company finally came out. Three colorways of bangles with our “Turf War” motifs on them. I have been wearing PDC’s goodies for years, and it was fun working with them on these ones. I love the matted-black the most, as I’m sure most guys would too. This collaboration is only being offered in our Asian doors, however. This was our first time working together, so we didn’t make alot in terms of quantity. Next time though, we’ll have enough to offer to our International accounts. And yes, more projects between PDC and us are in the pipelines, so I’ll keep you updated as we go along.

Merry Christmas, everyone!
For this X’mas, adFunture collaborated with SONY STYLE on a set of X’mas YOKA 2010.

The set included our regular sized YOKA and a 10″ counterpart. These are available only via SONY STYLE in Hong Kong.
A really clean design done up by Sean of Blockfour Design Co. in HK.

I’m in Shanghai during this holiday season, working on next year’s product range. We took it easy this year, because we spent most of our time on the VEIL apparel brand, which opened up its new Taipei location. Apologies to all the adFunture collectors out there. We’ll pick up the slack in 2011, I promise.
Wish you all the best, and have a warm X’mas!

While I went quiet on the designer figure front, our team was actually busy with the VEIL project.

After its first retail store in Hong Kong opened back in Feb of 2010, VEIL now has its second location in Taipei City of Taiwan. I’ll show you the store over the next few days, tonight I want to post up the specially made t-shirt we got ready for the Taipei Store’s opening event. We believe alot of people use clothing to represent themselves as who they’d want to be, a veil over their true personalities. Alot of people dress as they are, as how they truly feel, truly fit, but they still have something burried deep in their heart that they don’t want others to see. Everybody wears a Veil.

We have been sitting on these for a while, actually, a long while. We were waiting for a more appropriate event to release these bad boyz designed by 3 amazing toy-customizers. Well, we’ve decided that New York Comic-Con would be a great time to drop these YOKAs designed by Motorbot, Reactor88 and PHU!. No hype, no fancy descriptions, these are simply very attractive designs by the three. These editions of 200 will be released at the booth of MyPlasticHeart in NYCC. Go get them if you like them.
*(the adFunture website is down for a revamp, we will be back up there soon.)

“Finally we made it!! The G-shock x Subcrew Limited Edition watch has redesign some details and accents, rather than the usual print on the watch. We’ve put the Sharkmarine’s teeth and eye patterns on the watchstrap, with the eye-catching yellow/green color combination that meet the sharkmarine theme. As you can see on the picture, a Sharkmarine pattern has been added on the LED backlight, makes the watch become more prominent on the darkness. On the backside, a Subcrew Logo has been engraved as well as the individual serial number. We will include a Sharkmarine doll together with the watch as a set for sale.
The G-Shock x Subcrew Sharkmarine watch is limited of 100 pieces, and each one has engraved with a specific serial number from 001 – 100. There will be small amount available in our Online Store only, so all Subcrew fans must not miss it! !”

The Shark figure, of course, if you’ve been following adFunture for a while, you’ve seen it before. And as of this moment, this Subcrew G-Shock is already sold out. Congrats to Subcrew and G-Shock!

During New York Comic-Con 2010, adFunture will be releasing a number of new items. Some were disclosed before, some were delayed until now, and then some were never seen before.
I figured I’d start by showing a piece that was never mentioned before.

SKATEBOARD YOKA is a new series designed to add to the existing YOKA collection. For its debut, we have invited our friend ANTZ from Singapore to grace the first deck. This set, edition of 300, will first be sold in NYCC, at the camp of MyPlasticHeart. Don’t miss out~

Went silent on you again for a while, but I was working hard all the way through….

In between official YOKA Series production, I did a small capsule for SIZE Magazine in China, an edition of 30pcs all sprayed by yours truly. I was never a real artist myself, but I think these came out okay.

New Balance sent over something that they knew I was waiting for ever since the tradeshow! The MA-1 inspired MT580, due out this A/W. Love the color combo and the Gore-Tex outter doesn’t hurt neither. Much much thanks to da boyz. I love it!

Shanghai. After all these years, how do you think it looks like? Still a farm land of sort? Nah.
Check out how Shanghai looks like at night.

Rosa, a great help from our studio. She gave me the bad news about her having to leave the company, BUT, the great side to that was that she’ll be going to Italy to continue on with her education. That, I absolutely support!

I went to Cheng Du City last month, this is one of the shots that I took, one that I like more. These were made with cow-skins, these were used as light-puppets from decades ago. Pretty nice.
You’d want to see more designer figures in this blog, huh? Sorry. You wait, my friends. Just wait.

We were quiet on the toy front for a while, that was because we were working on this new YOKA series for FAMILY MART. A 10-variants soccer-themed series, these will be available in FAMILY MART Stores in Mainland China starting June 1st til July 31st of 2010.

Very happy to work with the convenience store chain, as this will give us the opportunity to put YOKA in front of a more mainstream audience. Not about to go mainstream, but would definitely want to see their responses to what we do. Unfortunately, for our YOKA collectors in other countries, we cannot distribute this series internationally as these are exclusively for FM. We do have something else for you all, will show you that next week.
