Jay Z, Wale, Nerd and J.Cole had a stop on the Blueprint 3 tour in Providence on Saturday. Great show and great seats thanks to my man Wale (and thanks for the shout during your show!).

Do you know what happens at a Hov show? Hits after hits after hits… a break… then more hits…!

New Balance / 686 @ Concepts

To celebrate the east coast launch of the 686 / New Balance collaboration we threw a little “get to together” at Concepts. Big thanks to Lauren, Lou, Jenn, Kristina and Allison of New Balance and Kristin of 686 for making this happen.

Pete with number 22 and 96 on the official “What White People Like” list. Ok…22 is “microbreweries” but the list maker needs to research how white people react to PBR… incredible. New Balance should definitely be higher on the list too. Just my own observations….

Fresh had to put the “swoosh” away for the event. Wasn’t too happy about it either

BoxCutter

This is how I feel right now.

ArmyJoint

I live in the world of premium denim, tier zero sneakers and thousand dollar outerwear…

…. but I remember a world that was simple…

NastyNas

tape

A world where a fresh pair of Timbs, a thick (you know the exact version I’m talking about) Champion hoodie, and an army M-65 was being dipped. I walked my city at all hours of the night with a Jansport normally filled with mixtapes (not mix-CDs), a black book (a graffiti sketch book) and ultra flat black Krylon spray paint. Where I was never without my Sony Walkman, box cutter and just enough money to barely eat. All we did was hang out, paint and talk shit.

Flatblack

Nas’ Illmatic was my religion and Carhartt was my garb. My way of life was bombing freight trains and roaming the darkest parts of my city. The Source Magazine was the map to the promise land and the Nike Air Force One was yet to be available to anyone that wanted to be cool.

Carhartt

My youth was about discovering the new and the next, not reliving a previous trend. It was about living what you believed and finding your voice. It was about dissecting your favorite album word for word and line for line reading every single production credit and liner note.

Face_Champion

This is when being “you” meant something…. being “myself” was mandatory…. and “biting” wasn’t aloud.

Basically the opposite of today.

Working as the brand manager of Concepts is not always an easy job but the percs of the job is being able to partner up with major brands to create something new. New Balance, Clarks, Red Wing, Sorel, Nike, Mitchell & Ness, Canada Goose and Timberland are some of the companies I have had the pleasure of working with but more importantly, learn from. I look forward to showing the world what we have been up too. Stay tuned….

I’m especially proud of this project here.

I’ve known the Crooks for a while now and they have expanded from a street wear brand to a true lifestyle brand with multiple lines and retail locations. I was at the opening of their Melrose store a couple years back and had the opportunity to check out the new Sunset Location which is also their main office. The store is crispy clean and doubles as a gallery currently showcasing the work of legendary photographer Chi Modu’s work. Had the chance to build and shoot the shit with Emil, Chris and the rest of the crew about everything from clothing to differences between our coasts. These dudes are fam.

Los Angeles Chronicles Part 3

I almost forgot that I went to Los Angeles for a reason.

Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles!!

Well that and the Adidas / David Beckham party. So after I indulged in what seemed to be the oddest combination of foods (fantastic by the way), it was time to head out to the event. And yes I put syrup on my chicken.

The party was what I imagined a Los Angeles party to be… celeb city. Quincy Jones and his daughters, Snoop Dogg, Ben Stiller, Anthony Michael Hall (16 Candles? Ask Deon), Mister Cartoon, Ciara, and Eva Longoria were a few of the notables that were there to support David Beckham. Dj Muggs and a trumpet player provided the music and there was paparazzi outside the club in trees, under cars and in disguise. Big shouts to Lucci and James Bond for taking care of us.

I lost Deon in the crowd and when I realized it I headed to the bar to find him. The bar is like the customer service counter at Caldors. When you loose someone you automatically head there in hopes of reuniting. I didn’t mean to interrupt his conversation with Eva Longoria. Sorry.

After the Adidas event we rolled to a spot where Romanelli was hosting an art show. First thing out of his mouth was “where’s Fresh?”

After my life altering beach visit (post before this one) we ran up to visit my homeboy Everlast who lives about 40 minutes from Hermosa. It’s no secret that the La Coka / House of Pain guys are good friends of mine and always check me when they hit Boston, so it was my turn to visit.

Ev has been an avid art and toy collector before the surge in popularity due to the internet and has direct relationships with most of the artists others jerk off over. His crib was a archive of “ungooglable” (I made that one up – so ill and rare you can’t google them. Get it?) collectibles. Craola, Jose Parla, Bansky, Dose, Futura, Shepard Fairey and of course Kaws, were just a few creators of the amazing pieces he has amassed.

Everlast has a true passion for art but also has a comparable passion for sports memorabilia and of course sneakers.

Congrats to Ev on his recent marriage and upcoming birth of his first child.

Thanks for the love!
