I directed a few skits for Karmaloop TV today that featured the rapper Redman. It was inspired by ESPN Sportcenter commercials with Red working various positions around the office. Hill. Larious.

This skit is my favorite— can’t wait for ya’ll to see it.

In my office – Funk Doc was interested in my figures–

Last scene of the day— Redman called to the boss’s office.

One of my favs! Funk Doctor!

New album “Reggie” out now.

NYC Video Shoot Pt#1: Chace Infinite

04 November 2010, 19.14 | Posted in Friends, Music, The Butcher Block, Video | No comments »

A couple weeks ago I ran out to NYC with my crew and directed a couple music videos for an upcoming Butcher’s Block music project. First to be released will be my good friend’s Chace Infinite’s video. Here is a couple shots from the shoot.

Setting up some shots in front of Prohibit in the L.E.S. Chace is a madman. #ThatIsAll

Nick Cangello is a film maker that joined the team recently. He basically listens to me rant and figures out how to capture it correctly (I say correctly because I am a little guerrilla with it). Amazing creative and addition to TBB. Welcome to the team!

Paul Mighty is my co pilot and is in charge of all audio on our projects (and tons of creative input). Probably the most reliable person I know. Everything I’m involved with he is probably not too far away. Incredible talent.

Video coming soon!

THE BUTCHER’S BLOCK PRESENTS: DJ MANIPULATOR “STUDIO KINDA DUSTY”

08 September 2010, 02.38 | Posted in Music, The Butcher Block | No comments »

I am proud to be able to introduce to you the incredibly talented DJ Manipulator. What is a DJ? I think the definition varies depending on the person, and can only be defined by what a particular “DJ” does and has a passion for. Manipulator’s passion is music first. He is well versed in diverse genres of music and you can hear that influence in his production work. Never trapped by invisible perimeters, Manipulator has dug through the most obscure records to find the right drum hit, horn stab or abstract sound; building blocks for his intricate compositions.

This mix, titled “Studio Kinda Dusty,” is a collection of some of Manipulator’s favorite records, carefully crafted from the original vinyl. It includes breaks, grooves, sample originals, and just plain great music. This mix is designed to give you a break from the current flow of pre-packaged, microwavable music. A vacation for your ears to a place that is… “KINDA DUSTY.”

I guarantee you will enjoy this mix as much as he enjoyed making it.

As a bonus, the last track is a medley of original music composed by DJ Manipulator himself. A personal representation of his style of production.

For inquires regarding events and production, please feel free to contact me personally.

Enjoy!

Ahh. The ever present fitted cap.

Something so classic and simple can mean the world to someone. If something means the world to me, it’s important that it’s representative of my personality and style.

I’m going to be 33 years old and that means I have been conscious of my fitted measurement for at least 20 years. My first was a San Diego Padres cap I bought in a sidewalk sale at a store called Maurice The Pants Man around my way.

My friends at Mitchell and Ness blessed me with an opportunity to put together a cap that represents me and my brand. I have had the pleasure of building a relationship with M&N while developing special projects for Concepts. The heritage and quality of the brand is something most people trust but I’m not sure people give their fitted cut and feel enough credit.

I wear New Era caps (like the rest of the world). In the passed couple of years, the New Era fit has not been my favorite. What changed? I’m not sure. Sporadic sizing and crown shapes makes it difficult to count on. Like most, I continue to hope for the best when I design caps for the shop or buy personnel caps elsewhere.

The M&N cap has surprised me and has become my favorite. Why? Well first and foremost – it fits. It fits good.

Jump on the M&N site and cop something to hide your crooked shape up. You will thank me later.

Shouts to Vic and John for the continued support and love.

Now on to my cap—

Features my “The Butcher’s Block” logo embroidery on the front

My motto on the right side panel in tonal embroidery and satin linings (not pictured)

The back embroidery lets you know that I keep it FRANKMATIC™

Will it be available? You will have to wait and see!

We are Lasers.

“…DETROIT!”

My family from Detroit came through last week because they were (…this section is secret…) and its going to be amazing. Burn Rubber is fam and are quickly becoming one of the best shops in the Midwest.

For everyone that asked me who Ro Spit was when the joint I produced featuring him, Bun B, Big Sean and Curt@!n$ was circulating — they are one and the same.

Peep their site HERE and Ro’s site dedicated to his music HERE.

If you missed the joint we did, peep it here:

Air Jordan 2010

This landed on my door step last week and as the resident “new model” wearer (it that a word?) at Concepts, I threw it on right away. Classic AJ colors, light, comfortable, and breathable— Its a go.

I’m not going to front, the window on the side bugs me out a little bit but you get used to it. I can’t help but wonder how dope this shoe would have been minus the window. It would have came off like a new age AJ3 with the clean leather section in the center of the shoe.

I’ve met quite a few Jordan execs and designers and this was not a random decision. There is a science behind everything ladies and gentlemen.

My man Aaron is a nuclear engineer in charge of developing new and improved ways to harness energy to eliminate life BUT on a lighter note, he is a terrific chef!

Aaron has a website dedicated to his food projects and I had the pleasure of sitting down and having a meal.

Super talented, great food and a great guy.

Check out his site here
