Last Saturday the latest PXA Basketball Tournament took place. After Paris and Berlin, the home grown tournament took place this time in Amsterdam. Unfortunately I could not make it out this time and it definitely looked like a lot of fun. Pigalle, BKRW, Bread & Butter, K1X, Soto, Candy and other teams gave their best both on and off the court. The Berlin pop-up store, Urban Gallery Store, is back at it again and re-opening the doors tonight. Once again the Undplus fam is presenting a strong line-up of art from local and international artists, including Nomad and Marok. Also they will be selling t-shirts from a solid line-up of brands.

Knowing Undplus, the opening tonight will be exploding. Looking forward to see the new art!!

Swedish car company Volvo celebrated the presentation of their new S60 model last night in Berlin with the Volvo Subject60 Tour. They rented out a really nice spot in the city, which is most of the time being used by the Premium fashion tradeshow. Swedish singer Lykke Li performed. Its the first time I have seen her live and I have to admit that it was actually pretty good. After Lykke Li our man Adam Port spinned. Volvo also invited Facehunter to document the evening, so watch out for video material and lots of photos coming from him soon. The tour will continue in London, Paris, Milan and Madrid in the coming weeks.

The Cannes Film Festival 2010 journey continues. After arriving earlier yesterday and hanging at the Mansion of Jaques d’Azur, we ended up going to the film premier of a Russian movie last night.

Arriving at the red carpet of the film festival was stunning. I can safely say that I have never seen that many photographers in one spot and certainly not with me right in the middle of it. Obviously they realized pretty quickly that I was no big shot, which I was very happy about, because I could just walk through. Check out the images to get a slight idea of this chaos.

When getting into the festival center, you came across lots of Tim Burton artwork decorating the venue. It was work of his from the last 20 or so years and was actually a nice touch.

I have to admit, the fact that it was Russian took away a little excitement before, but the movie actually made up for all of it. The movie was basically about WWII and it was very long, but the cinematography was just incredible and very impressive. The images in the film, the music, it was all beautiful and also very heavy on a emotional level. I was very happy to have seen it, as it is not the movie one would usually go see or rent out.

After that we went back to the hotel, chilled out a little and then ended up going to VIP Room, a club that sets up shop temporary in Cannes every year during the film festival. Mary J. Blige sang some songs live with the DJ and the place was just overall unreal. Its the type of celebrity over-infused club that you can only take every once in a while and also not for too long. But I have to say, it was more than fitting the overall Cannes experience and if you only take it half serious, its actually fun for a night.

I just arrived in Cannes today. Even though the job brings long hours with itself, 7 day weeks, there is always some fun in it as well. After all the crappy weather that we had so far this year, this seems like a real treat. Currently the Cannes Film Festival is going on and we are invited to check out some previews of films to come to cinemas soon, party a little and more. It will definitely be an experience.

I just got to the hotel and its set in a beautiful natural scenery just outside Cannes. Super calm, which I actually enjoy, as the craziness around the festival will start later this evening.

We got together with the new Berlin store SOTO to celebrate this passed weekend. Luckily DJ Neil Armstrong was in town and had some time to spin for us. Just a quick thank you to everybody involved and of course mainly to Neil for making it an epic night. Soon more images will follow!

You already saw me getting a short interview of The Kaiser, aka Franz Beckenbauer. Here now some more pics from the trip. I was invited to check out adidas Campus. The main purpose was the official launch of the Worldcup Final ball. Beckenbauer and the complete South African soccer team attended the event.

I have to admit that even though I am into soccer, it is not a sport that I follow all that much. Therefore the campus tour and especially the Walk Of Fame were far more interesting for me. Seeing the beginnings of a company with so much heritage and especially for once getting a full picture was really impressive. The Walk of Fame shows you everything from the first to the last adidas innovation, accumulated making it very overwhelming.

While adidas is a very modern company, I was actually quite surprised of how privincial the atmosphere was at the headquarter. Situated in the South of Germany the campus is all green, cafeteria with plenty of terrasse space, basketball, soccer and tennis facilities and much more. One could almost call it cosy. I always ask myself how a company like adidas or a company like Diesel (they also sit in the middle of nowhere in Italy) can be in such a business while having their headquarters sitting in the countryside. Interestingly it does not seem to have too much influence on the innovation of a company if set up the right way.

Tom, Annie and AK took really good care of me (as usual) and even though it was a quick visit, it was lots of fun.

Last week we were invited to visit the adidas World Headquarters. Since we had never checked them out before, we got a nice tour of the campus, but primarily we came to see the launch of the worldcup final ball. In case you do not remember, check it out here.

The highlight of the short trip was our 10 minute interview with the Kaiser, aka Franz Beckenbauer. Anybody who only cares a little about soccer knows, that he is one of the most important personalities in German and even international soccer. He was really easy to talk to, super chill guy and it was great that he gaves us a bit of time. Some of the bigger soccer magazines did not get personal interviews, so it was definitely an honor for us. Thanks to AK, Annie and Tom for making this happen!

Last week we attended the MTV EMA’s in Berlin. Was a first for such an event. When you sit in front of the TV the experience is definitely very different and only when you have been there you realize that the whole thing is one big TV production.

MTV managed to get Beyonce, Jay-Z, U2 and the Foo Fighters to perform, so that was definitely a treat. At some point we really wanted to be at the Brandenburger Tor for the collaborative performance by U2 and Jay-Z, that was unforunately only streamed to the EMAs. Check out some snapshots from the event….

This is one of the funniest things I have seen in a while. With the current recession hitting especially the US really hard, adidas had announced a couple of days ago that they would not be having any year end parties, which accounted in previous years to almost 6.3 Mio USD in costs.

Etnies nicely uses that statement and now throws an adidas Holiday party! Genius move!
