Some of you might have heard by now about the 14oz Berlin store. It is founded by the same people that run the Bread & Butter tradeshow and if you are only slightly interested in heritage brands and brands that care about traditional high end production, this is a store that you cannot miss. From Nigel Cabourn, Red Wing, RRL to Moscot, Alden, Tricker’s, the store carries a wide range of fantastic brands.
The other day I wondered through it and came across their own make-ups of Tricker’s classics. You have probably seen some Comme des Garcons x Tricker’s or uniform experiment x Tricker’s shoes on Highsnobiety or Selectism. While over the years the collaborative works of the English brand were very impressive, I was a little surprised to see a “collabo” with 14oz. There is one thing that people (including myself) tend to forget though. Tricker’s does not really do any collaborations, they are just doing custom footwear and they do that since day 1. Anybody can order a pair of Tricker’s and choose colors and materials. So I guess you cannot call these brand get togethers a “real” collaboration.
Nevertheless, seeing your brand name and/or store name in such a wonderful pair of shoes must be very satisfying!
