Have A Bad Day

30 March 2009, 21.19 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

A while ago my favorite Canuck send me a link to Bad Day, saying I would be into to it.

Turns out, as always, he was right.

Bad Day is a Toronto arts magazine published quarterly and featuring the works and features on todays most relevant artists.

So true, ’cause their Spring issue, which will be out this Wednesday, April 1st, features our “own” Parra, who’s currently in LAlaland, working on the launch of his own show at the Heavyweight Art gallery on April 4th.

The new issue of Bad Day will be launched at The Emporium Art Gallery in Montreal, from 7PM-11PM, with an exhibition that features the art of Parra, Lukas Geronimas, Oliver Laric and WZRDS GANG, all of whom are also featured in the new issue.

If you can’t find Bad Day at your local bookstore you can also order it online.

Have a Bad Day! Go on… you know you want to…

Night At The Museum

Ok, so we Amsterdam folk are never very keen to venture out into other cities, especially not Rotterdam, a city with which Amsterdam has a long running (silly) feud. But there are exceptions of course and one of those is the Rotterdam Museumnight.

Held this Saturday the 7th, the Rotterdam Museumnight is a great excuse to mingle with Rotterdam’s finest, enjoying cocktails and see some art as well. The best thing about the Rotterdam Museumnight is that its a  lot less crowded than its Amsterdam counterpart, so you’ll actually manage to get into the galleries and museums that open their doors until late.

The route we’ll be following will take us mainly to the Witte de Withstreet, where contemporary art galleries such as MAMA, Tent and the Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art can be found squeezed in between some of the nicest bars and restaurants in town. The street will be littered with Willem de Kooning students, good-looking Rotterdam hipsters and crazy perfomance artists which makes it a cross between mardi gras, queensday and a nuit blanche.

We’re also really looking forward to see the work of one of our favorite video artists, Pipilotti Rist, at the parkinglot beneath the Erasmusbridge and the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum.

We’ll end our night at De Unie where – and we already jumping up and down with joy – the one and only infamous Knakendisco DJ’s will get together one final time! These guys held the best parties in Rotterdam at the craziest venues around the early 2000’s… uh well a while ago anyway… and we, and the rest of our Rotterdam brethren, are pretty exited for these guys to get behind the decks again!

De Hele Teringstad Hep ‘t Erover.
