Exhibit – Art Basel – AD Oasis @ The Raleigh – Miami Beach

09 December 2011, 18.24 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

1800 Colección celebrated Art Basel 2011 with an exhibition by Kai and Sunny at The Raleigh – AD Oasis – Miami Beach.

The AD Oasis area was designed by Mark Cunningham and as part of the 3 day event Bernstein & Andriulli and The Supper Club invited 50 VIPs who enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast and tasted 1800 Tequila Colección. All set against the dramatic back drop of an exhibition of Kai and Sunny’s graphic, monochromatic “Flower Series”.

Artists Gary Baseman, Kai and Sunny, Vivian Rosenthal and Product and Industrial designer Demian Repucci, explored the broad theme of “The Intersection of Art and Design” in a lively panel discussion chaired by Bernstein and Andriulli’s Louisa St.Pierre.

KAI AND SUNNY – THE FLOWER SHOW

24 May 2011, 10.43 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Images from the letterpress printing for the box set which includes
‘The Gardener’ short story by David Mitchell.

Invites going out tomorrow.

Private view: Thursday 2nd June 6-9pm

Show runs: 3rd June – 26th June

The work of Kai and Sunny appears in many arenas of art. They have won numerous accolades including a D&AD award in illustration/design. Their intricate, natural and sometimes sinister design style has earned them commissions for David Mitchell book covers, art direction for Alexander McQueen and advertising campaigns for global brands including Adobe and Apple.

Their new exhibition, ‘The Flower Show’, follows the success of previous sell-out solo shows: ‘What A Wonderful World’ (2009) and ‘Return To The Wild’ (2010) at the Stolen Space Gallery, London, and their continued collaboration with Daydreaming with… James Lavelle at Haunch of Venison, London (2010).

The new show features a series of monotone works, highlighted in glittering silver, which explore the word ‘flower’. These include large-scale, silkscreened images which illustrate the complexity of the flower. This latest work demonstrates Kai and Sunny’s continuing intricacy and connection with nature but also shows a developing maturity and intensity.

NEW SHOW – GHOSTS OF GONE BIRDS

17 May 2011, 10.18 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

The next show we will be exhibiting in is quite a special one, and one we are honored to be part of. “Ghosts of Gone Birds” has been masterminded by director Ceri Levy with an impressive list of artists under it’s belt including Sir Peter Blake, Jamie Hewlett, Billy Childish, Polly Morgan, Marcus Coates, Colin Self, D-Face, Russell Maurice and Hellovon among others “all creating their own particularly unique artistic memorials to the birds we have lost over the last two centuries.”

The first installment opens May 19th at Liverpool School of Art before it travels abroad with a pit stop in London in November this year. Not only will the exhibition show artwork generated by those mentioned above it will incorporate a programme of talks, film and live music all of which will raise money and awareness for BirdLife International’s Preventing Extinctions programme.

For the show we have created a new, large scale original but all details of artworks are very much under wraps until the exhibition launches this week. For full details on Ghosts of Gone Birds click the link below to go to their regularly updated Facebook page.
