MONEY vs PEOPLE                          ?

so I was checking out the homies from Jugrnaut and came across this post on their website

this photo was taken outside of the Alderman’s office which just happens to be next to Jugrnaut

I already know a little about the negative effects Wal-Mart’s presence can have on small business owners and the local economy that supports them.  Several local buisnesses in my hometown closed within 8 years of Wal-Mart opening.

In the business sense I can appreciate Wal-Mart’s business model, ruthlessness, and dedication to $0.01 profit per item and crushing their competition.   Mr. Walton was a visionary.  He undoubtedly was a great man, but his greatness wasn’t fully realised with so many being negatively effected by his creation.

there is a middle ground possible if Wal-Mart were to work with individual communities but as of right now it comes down to  MONEY vs PEOPLE

you can read more about it at Jugrnaut’s site.. peep the comments

my favorite comment so far..

Too Cool says:

“How many of the previous posters LIVE on the south side? We don’t really have small businesses except for liquor stores, fast food, and the little odd boutique here or there. If we want groceries we either have to pay an arm and a leg at Jewel, get substandard products at Save A Lot, or go give our money to the various middle eastern proprietors who won’t hire us and but trat us like $h!+… The south side needs JOBS and FOOD… if you aren’t giving it to us and Wal Mart will then what do you expect… I’ve read the articles and I’ve seen the documentaries but what I keep missing are the OPTIONS… sell me some expensive staples or hire my peeps OR STFU!!!”

Personally, I think the traffic that a Wal-Mart generates would dead most of the violence in it’s area.  The problem is, that violence would simply go somewhere else and most likely it wouldn’t just be one place, it would scatter to several.. most likely places that already have problems with violence increasing the number of hot spots and lowering living conditions.. all just by opening doors in a troubled area.

Ultimately, suprising as it is..  Wal-Mart is not a end to Peace.

If someone wants talk “Gun Manufactuerers” and throw some cash at it i’ll go be a anit-gun lobyist in DC..  that might do something.

Stop Guns. Stop Gun Violence.

Pretty Simple.

I’m pretty sure everyone would rather go back to having to only worry about Perverts & Kidnapping when their kids are outside playing.
