Our friend Juse from I Have Pop, who exhibited a selection of his works at the opening of our store, just released his latest project: Necklaces…

A beautiful plain white knitted scarf completely made out of shoelaces! To keep the sneakerheads cool in wintertimes. After the concrete dunks and the sneakers completely made out of shoeboxes for Solebox this is again a new interpretation on the sometimes boring sneakerculture,  in which Juse brings innovation by expressing new ideas and reinvents the old. The most important driving force in all of this is ofcourse… creativity.

Our first sample sale! After 3 years we decided to start 2008 with a clean basement and get rid off all the left over, never-produced, forgotten, whatever samples we  have laying around. Counting the last days of 07 you have to ask yourself what to do the big NYE…we decided to join forces with Heyheyhey, Magda and Plan2 and are throwing an Official Unofficial Next Year’s Preparty. Limited to 150 people before 00.00 o’clock Plan 2 will be  the place to share the good, bad and ugly of 2007 stories and settle yourself for a good New Years blast. Eindhovens finest DJ’s will be spinning, champagne popping and a nice crowd on the floor. After 00.30 Plan2 will be open for more guests, but get your tickets soon cause it’s almost sold out! At our shop we have some left…

MU will kick off the new year with Geneviève Gauckler’s first solo expo in The Netherlands. The expo will be called ‘foodchain’ and is themed round… food.  

Gauckler will experiment and show our ’stuffed’ world with her strong characters and you can expect a graphic theater of flying sausages, bored pizza’s, happy potatoes and meditating pears amongst others. She will turn our eating habits and ways of consuming upside down in her own recognizable and humorous way…looking forward to this one!

Last friday Y’s Kid and Ridicolous Johnny found a reason to throw a party, together they’re almost 50 and set up a nice blockparty outside…turntables, cans of beer, heaters in the cold etc, all looking sharp. Party started round 7 and half an hour later the police was kind enough to shut it down…Luckily Erik was kind enough to do a little metarmphosis to their Hellshop office and before we knew it we were partying inside!

Today, Friday, is practice day and different Dutch television stations will be in Area to film and document what’s going to happen coming days. Saturday the qualifications for street and miniramp will take place, followed up with the bowl championship in the evening. The Remones (ramones cover band) will play live during this battle!

Sunday the best ones will ride the semifinales and finales street and miniramp and at the end of the day we’ll all know who will be the Dutch champion street, miniramp and bowl!!

Last friday Cosmic Crack opened his first solo show in Eindhoven and he and the Powerblast Movement woke up some people. Busy evening, good vibe and work was powerful all in black and white. Here’s a small impression of the art and the crowd:

This friday Cosmic Crack will open his first own solo expo ‘Hogeschool voor de Levensvragen / the hidden Elect’ in Wei gallery in Eindhoven.

Today I had a quick look at how he was doing and I’ll give you a preview of some of the pieces in progress. I have to say it already looks really good and can’t wait for the opening. Cosmic Crack, aka Crackrock, brings his work again to the next level and when you’re in the area you should drop by and have a beer with us on friday!

In Holland all kids have been stressed for already two weeks cause tonight, 5 december, the old Sinterklaas will deliver his final judgement about how well each kid behaved last year and this will be translated in the amount of gifts they will find in their shoes tommorow morning…

Today it was judgement day at our office cause the Ol’Dirty and his friendly helper paid a visit at our place.

According to the almighty book of Sinterklaas these two Ontour boys didn’t behave that well last year…as you can see they try to hide behind their smiles but in fact are quite nervous about being taking back on the boat to Spain:

Luckily the Saint and Zwarte Piet grabbed some beers from our fridge and before we knew it they forgot about our bad behaviour and were off to their next visit…Their goal was to score as many free booze in one day and I really hope no child saw these two on this mission…

Okay, Wouter has a few heroes he worships…one of them is Lee Scratch Perry and another one is Rin Tanaka. A while ago he became a very happy man cause he met Rin Tanaka himself at an overview exhibition from his work at the Blue Blood store in Amsterdam.

For those who don’t know: Tanaka, a true denim addict, is a well known collector of vintage clothing. Born in Japan, he now travels from coast to coast in America hunting for hard to find and rare pieces of jeans, tees, shirts, jackets, boots and other items with its roots in the surf- skate and motercycle scene.

In the beautiful and self-published series of books ‘My Freedamn’ Tanaka shows his passion with amazing photographs and text. Number 6 has been released this year and that’s why he was in The Netherlands with an overview of his latest pictures and parts from his huge collection. Wouter was the lucky bastard to meet Tanaka and got an original photograph with personal message from this legend…Damn!
