After Bright we visited another tradeshow on monday; Modefabriek Amsterdam. Parts from our upcoming Winter09 collection were shown here in the Superstore. As always Stijlinstituut Amsterdam done the concept and selection of products together with their partners. Hilde worked her ass off to get everything organised and ready in time. But it looked awesome and the theme of this edition; ‘No Borders!’ On art, craft and culture came across really well. Read some background of the theme here.

Here some of my picts:

‘Le clochard’ sleeping bag:

Check out more picts of nice products here.

Found out at the WESC booth they’ve got a new activist:

Glue jeans:

Okay, enough tradeshows for 1 week..

A beautiful narrative…

I got a couple of these in the last days…classic stuff. Sorry guys, this is the blog of death.

Tradeshows recap part2

30 January 2009, 00.09 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Okay, on saturday morning we left early in the morning from Barca to frankfurt, straight to Bright tradeshow. This is I think the 6th time already we’re here, visiting our German reps who always show Ontour in their booth. Another tradeshow, another city…

Frankfurt is famous for the best restaurants in Germany:

German Battlefields:

Haka, our Japan distributor was with us and also Tilburgs finest Gio and friend joined us getting lost in the labyrinth building:

The Hundreds had a nice little show; in one space a small gallery with their history and lifestyle in picts and words and in the other the new line. Nice idea to get the feeling of the label across:

Half a year ago I blogged about the famous Grune Sause und liters of Apfelwein…this time no Grune sause und Apfelwein for us, but still a typical Frankfurter place with kartoffeln, schnitzel und pils…classic

Wouters slammin shooters:

After this the trouble I warned about in the previous post started….

The English! Oh boy, the gents Rufus and Will from Second Son and Ry Ryouki showed up full force in Frankfurt. The time I arrived at the party these boys were already hammered, mainly because Will found a way to collect some extra money for drinks by collecting empty bottles and getting 1,- euro back for each.

Romy tried at her best and act a bit as the mother for these kids…

But when she looked away for one sec they were all over the place…Rufus creating a big mess on the dancefloor..

…and Ry constantly holding my intern Lorain and posing for pictures…

…and Will? Collecting euros ofcourse! No more picts from him, he was on his knees on the floor searching for empty cans…and I was still going strong:

Thanks lads, it was a pleasure again! Next time…London!

Just back from Barca and Frankfurt. Bread and Butter and Bright, lovely. My idea was to blog from over there, but I forgot my cable to load the picts. Even if I would have had it with me, I probably wouldn’t have uploaded any. Mad busy over there with our booth and ofcourse a full night-agenda..Here a little recap from the battlefields.

Here our view, la Rambla. Always classic, especially at night.

10 kg Promomaterial ready:

It felt good to be back again in the circus of Montjuic:

Back to where it all started 3 years ago:

Wouter and I arrived on monday, to do some pro-sticker work:

Ofcourse Monsieur Simon also was there to do some hall inspection and see if there are no spies around the Sixpack booth already:

Wouter does a final check and it was time to leave this place..

Time to meet the hotshots from the FC and discuss some streetwear gossip:

Day after more brands thought it was time to get things prepared over there…The Wemotions sind zuruck!

Patta Distribution, with a magnificent 4 hour sticker job:

Details details..

Diner time at cafe Mama with Les Sixpacks, CTRL, Fresh…good times

Lionel: Burn the brand!

The other half of FC arrived and Peter still thought there was another REAL party at Dos Trece…next time

Okay finally the tradeshow started! It was all goood and no, we didn’t only have these guys hanging in our booth..

In the evening I was invited to a lovely diner in a Barca loft by Philip from Bread and Butter. Badia, Teimaz wife from Azita Frankfurt cooked a delicious diner for all of us…

Round the table, guests like Highsnob David, Jeff Carvalho, WoodWoods Soren and Barbara, Jeff Staple, the PigMag / Super guys, Solebox brothers, Durkl amongst others..

After some midnight blogging from Jeff and David we went to the Frank151 party…

In no particular order, party heads from Sixpack, Patta, Norse, Pointer, Wemoto, FC, Dreamteam, Jean Citykingz / Toykyo…

Oh this may look like your typical streetwear sausage party, but there were actually some pretty nice girls here…but I think my girlfriend deleted all these picts from my camera.

Well, here some other good stuff; say hello to the best Dutch sale rep at his best:

And here his boss, so you know who was his teacher:

And the boss the day after (the good thing is he wasn’t able to over spend on his budget):

New fleamarket space with Azita, Solebox, Reed Space, Slam Jam, woodWood etc:

Interview by Flake.tv soon on Highsnobiety:

Doublegoose Oliver:

Walter van beirendonck worked with his Antwerp students on some great denim pieces:

That night the English arrived…a beautiful narrative with these 2 lads and their best friend will follow soon in part 2…Rufus Second Son and Ry Ryouki I would find a place to hide for the coming 6 months.

The final Knock out in part 2.

It’s weekend…

11 January 2009, 17.56 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Pretty busy weekend…with the tradeshows starting in about a week times short and days long. We kickstarted the weekend with our Big Fat Sale together with Dings and T-Shu. We opened doors at 12 and quickly place was packed.

Mr. Dings never not working as you can see:

We did a 12 hours sale, and it was freezing over there. My toes almost froze off, so in the evening the Ontours decided it was time to warm up and we went to MU gallery for Vibskovs opening of his solo show The Visit. Lots of people there and it was worth it…Really nice expo, better then I expected. Here some snapshots, coming week I’ll go back and make some better shots so you’ll get a better impression of the work. Now I’ll try to explain: The MU space is divided into 3 ‘boxes’ each of them covered with different textures that you’ll recognize from his shows he’s done in the last years. It feels as if you’re entering a space from another planet, with forms and colours that seem to grow in MU and want to grow outside the exhibition space. The nice thing is you can enter all boxes and in there again different levels are created where visitors are invited to walk or look into. In one of the boxes Vibskov reconstructs parts of the “Fantabulous Bicycle Music Factory” show; visitors can jump on the bikes themselves and orchestrate a music pieces together while cycling. One rail on the floor runs through all 3 boxes and you can lay down in a small car and experience the exhibition from a complete different perspective…

I think these picts explain all of this. Outside of the 3 textured boxes there’s a really nice overview of photo’s from previous shows, experiments and inspiration…when you have time to travel all the way to Eindhoven, this is the time to do so! Official press release can be read here.

This space is covered with the tentakels from his AW08 collection “The Mint Institue’ and inside sculpture and painting from an older season:

The rail that runs through MU:

In that space you could stick your head into a hole in the ceiling:

And an enormous field out of “The Land Of The Black Carrots” is revealed:

Another space was covered with the wooden sticks from his Quinny project:

Inside that space parts of the “Fantabulous Bicycle Music Factory” show:

B Free and Erosie working on a piece together:

Photos and paintings covering the walls of the space:

Ofcourse the elite of Eindhoven art scene was represent:

And even Amsterdam Eastside sended Julien from JulesDavid to check out the sweetness from the chocolate fountain:

Vibskov himself. And Robob himself:

Afterwards we headed back to our warehouse to clean up the sale, but immediatley it turned into a very competitive midnight table tennis event…Dings vs Ontour:

Ontour vs Eastpack:

Ontour vs Dings part2:

Wouters tries to concentrate…before it all start to spin around:

The day after was an early one…all our AW09 samples have arrived! Again, a big step for us. More and more our label finds its way into the direction we want it to go. For now just a sneak preview, for those going to Bread and Butter and / or Bright, visit our booth and we’ll show all in detail…

Saturday was photoshoot day. Working with Sophie and Brahm was again a pleasure and for the first time we worked together with Boudewijn Bollmann from Twisted Streets:

The set up:

The main reason I’m in this business is to finally be a stylist:

Already looking forward to next winter! But first our Spring09 collection ofcourse! Here a first preview of our upcoming reshaped site:

And now it’s sunday and I’m blogging:( Time to go out! See ya.
