Roel Wouterse
My friend Rene from Mark A recently worked on the identity and campaign for the first edition of the Breda filmfestival. They worked together with Roel Wouterse on the trailer and Rene brought his work to my attention again. I already knew this great video he did for zZz ‘The Grip’.
This is a one take, top shot music video with trampoline gymnasts simulating typical video effects. The video has been recorded live, as part of the opening ‘Nederclips’ at the Stedelijk museum ’s-Hertogenbosch. The important criteria were that the audience at the opening would be able to witness the whole shoot, and that the videoclip would be added to the exhibition immediately after the shoot. This meant they had no option to reshoot or edit if something went wrong….check it out:
Then I saw the second video he’s done for zZz: Running with the Beast from their new album.
Roel made a music video, the artwork and a series of posters. The project is about two artists who have created the conditions to capture rage n a sytematic way. Two colored cocks print their fight on a sheet of paper. This is so strong:

Last one is a music video for Robot High School directed by Roel Wouters with music by My Robot Friend. It was shot in a single take in an abandoned warehouse in Amsterdam.
The music video address the issues of how perspective can manipulate our view of reality…
