According to an old saying, every time someone lights a cigarette with a candle, a sailor dies…

Art of Fashion

For a while we wanted to see the show ‘The Art of Fashion’ in Boijmans van Beuningen. This one ends the 10th of January, so last saturday we headed out to Rotterdam to have a look. And it was defenitely worth it; the exhibition design was really well done and some dope pieces…

Foam

Last sunday we visited Foam (museum for photography), one of my favourites in Amsterdam. Exhibitions change all the time and the quality is high. It’s quite small, so it’s also easy to just pop in and out.

In the basement Photography – in reverse; an exhibition of work by Constant Dullaart, Katja Mater, Jaap Scheeren, Corriette Schoenaerts and Anne de Vries. Five young Dutch photographers who work with the medium of photography in ‘a refreshingly uninhibited, unconventional and sometimes slightly anarchist way.’ Nice one:

The main exhibition was from Russian avant-garde artist Alexander Rodchenko. I especially liked his early works from the 1920’s in which he played with photomontage, collages and combined graphics with photos, have a look:

Niet Normaal

With the cold weather and hangover days round Christmas and New Year we thought it was a good idea to visit some musea and galleries for some shows we wanted to see but couldn’t find the time before. First one was Niet Normaal (Not Normal) in Berlage Amsterdam.

Lots of advertisements across the city about this one and the theme ‘what’s normal and who decides?’ sounded promosing. But I thought it was dissapointing; the layout was a chaos and the selection of works was a bit of a mess…the difference in quality was big and I couldn’t find a coherent story in what I saw. ‘All over the place’ in my opinion. Anyway, ofcourse there was some good stuff, here some picts of what I liked (one reason to go is to see some of the small movies, these are funny):

We’re developing some exciting new stuff…here some sneak peaks:

Source

29 December 2009, 11.31 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Etienne recently visited Shanghai and over there he met up with the good people from Source. Since opening in late 2006, Source has become China’s premier destination for streetwear and streetfashion, presenting a fine selection of brands worlwide. Since the beginning we’ve been part of their collection and now seeing this massive store for real and meeting the people behind the concept was very good.

This year they’ve opened ther second flagship store in Beijing. Besides selling clothes, their 300 sqm gallery brings street culture directly to the streets of China through national and international artists. Super nice to see how the owners are pushing the boundaries of the shopping experience and being involved in the music, sport and film scene on the other side of the world. Enough talking here some picts of the city and the Shanghai flagship store:

The Source crew also does a very good job in promoting and advertising Ontour in China, here some recent press clippings:

We’ll be back soon!

Supernice new project by Baschz and DJ Von Rippendael, have a look at Cratefull of Baschz a.k.a. the BMX Boomboxxx

From different people who visited Berlin in recent years I got the same question with similar photo in my inbox…’If we opened a flagship store over there?’

Baschz was there also to have a look so I thought now it was time to spread the news;)

Christmas Sale!

17 December 2009, 15.27 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Yep it’s that time of the year again. Last season we didn’t do any sale, so we decided to clean our basement this time just before christmas. We will be selling some samples that were never produced, other colorways of items and some stock from previous seasons.

Together with our friends at Dings we will host a 2 days Big Fat Christmas Sale. They’re selling some hot stuff for countdown prices from their AW09 collections. On wednesday evening we’ll have some ‘Gluhwein’ and ‘oliebollen’ to get into the Christmas vibe!

Hope to see you next week, wednesday the 23th and thursday the 24th at Dings, Bergstraat 12, Eindhoven:
