Whole Amsterdam talks about “Amongst Friends“. Some dudes from Nalden.net got together to organize nice and laid-back movie sessions for the community. Everybody knows about those kind of evenings, but way too less people actually put such intimate evenings into practice! Love the idea. Very simple, but sometimes that’s all you need… on top of that, Mikol from NYC streetwear brand Amongst Friends didn’t leave the chance out to support the event with his fresh clothes!
“Out of love and necessity rather than profit and novelty, I started Amongst Friends together with my good friend Hein van Joolen. It’s a monthly based event held in Amsterdam to watch quality movies in close company with friends.
After selecting trailers for a year at Nalden.net within the Trailer Trash topics we decided to bring this topic to life and created a moment to spend quality time with quality movies amongst friends. A moment to re-establish good friendships, a moment to escape the daily madness of work. Also because we’re lost in our busy lives ourselves hahaha.
Each month we’ll select a movie accompanied by trailers we prefer to watch. The Ketelhuis cinema in Amsterdam was kind enough to host the first Amongst Friends series with comfortable chairs, a big screen and a massive sound system. We’ll announce the movie we selected in front of the friendly audience which makes this event far more exciting like a sneak preview.
We would love to invite you for our first Amongst Friends movie night experience on Monday February 16th. Bring your friends, pause your busy lives and spend quality time together. Let’s watch a movie!
The lovely people at AMONGST FRIENDS NYC really liked the idea which adds another angle to this lovely event since we adopted the name of this fashion brand from New York City. Obviously it’s an sponsored event but on a subtle way, you know. Puts us in a luxury position to share new clothes with our friends. Big up toStreet Couture Society for the support and another big up to NBC Universal, A-FILM, Warner / Fox, BFD films for their support by giving us access to their trailers and movies!”

Spent the other day in Brooklyn visiting my homies Mikol from Amongst Friends and Greg from Mishka. Mikol showed me around the Bedford Avenue area in Williamsburg a little bit and hooked me up with this sweet “Harrington” inspired Amongst Friends jacket. Love the golf look and especially the red-checked lining:

Met Greg strolling down the streets with his fixie. First stop was at his tattoo place just around the corner to go over his new ink he’s about to get:

That’s SICK:

Afterwards Greg showed me around the upcoming neighbourhood of South Williamsburg where the Mishka flagship store is about to open soon! Definitely a MUST-SEE when you’re in town:

Then around the corner is their office, which really feels like an overdose of colours/toys/heavy metall graphics/Mr. T’s/Comic posters!! So inspiration definitely doesn’t come short.

Greg’s team and the other brain behind Mishka: Mikhail aka The Russian!

Their showroom/meeting room:

Look what I got! The Adio x Mishka colabo sneaker:

THNX for the Brooklyn tour, guys! Really enjoyed it!

Last day in Vegas. Last day of the trade show madness and I definitely had a tight schedule: first Magic/Slate, then Capsule, then Project.
Despite that brands like King Stampede, The Hundreds, Penfield (Capsule), Staple Design (Capsule) etc. were missing at Slate and a lot of brands were complaining (not only about the current economic climate), most of the brands seemed to be pretty satisfied at the end and did pretty good business regarding the circumstances.
There was quite a movement away from Magic towards Project (which actually belongs to the same company) and Capsule, which is more like a big showroom for more mature and sophisticated brands like Public School, Barking Irons, Corpus, Maiden Noir, Endovanera, Gilded Age etc. in the upper fashion segment.
@Slate:

Semen Sperms (aNYthing) spinning:

Jacket of the day: Erin’s MadeMe black leather jacket with red roses on it. Rock’n Roll Cuteness!:

That’s it. Leaving Las Vegas. It was short. It was intense. I think everybody gets home damaged from Vegas…

Jollibee it was! Nathalie invited some peepz to the so-said famous Jollibee to celebrate her birthday. I’ve never heard of it and didn’t know what to expect, but it definitely was a night to remember! Jeff, Nico and the whole shabang ALWAYS go there… must be an Asian thing.
I LOVED IT! Jollibee is an fast food chain from the Philippines and you can get pretty much all kinds of food in there with there special twist to it: Burgers with rice, chicken wings with rice, spaghetti with rice, yes, even rice with rice!
So, if you’re still in Vegas, you HAVE to check it out! It’s a classic!

Princess Sarah of Dubai:

Nathalie, Moses of Incase, the crew of Hawaiian mag Contrast, Brian from Sole Technology and Hawaii himself:

Team Staple and Jan:

Also there were some rumors going around during the evening…
1. KAWS is about to do the next Jollibee collabo:

2. Jollibee is opening a joint in Berlin for the comeback of BBB called “Jolli-Biene”! Jawohl!!
(Hawaii: “NEEEIIINNN”)
3. I spent the rest of the night in the bathroom.
THANKS FOR THE GREAT EXPERIENCE!!

Vegas, Baby! You hate it, you love it. It’s this time of the year again: SLATE, Project, Capsule and all the other small showrooms and private suites. The whole industry is in town again.
People aren’t to keen about the Magic trade show over here, they completely shut down the South Halls, I guess everybody is having a tough season these days. Nevertheless, the SLATE area has a good portfolio with all relevant US streetwear brands and even really nice brands like Porter, Garbstore and Maharishi are showing, which was very surprising.
Erin at her MadeMe stand:

Amsterdam Clubkids representing (without even being there):

Nathalie (LTD) aka “Cheerleader” promoting all kinds of stuff (hahaha!):

On the way to the LTD & New Balance Dinner at Sushi Ruko in the Caesar’s:

David from Tsovet, Sarah, the always lovely Penfield Crew and the great host Hawaii:

The food was amazing! They really pulled it together:

Can’t help it, but my man Nico got style (rocking the same shirt as me! which made him kept on his jacket the whole day at Slate…hahaha…!)

Afterwards we went to the XS at Encore Hotel where Jay-Z’s wingman Neil Armstrong was spinning. It wasn’t too packed, but definitely fun!:

Caught Erik (Rocksmith) checkin out ALL the girls all night long:

Jan (LTD) and the whole Hellz Bellz crew: Jino, Lanie & Bam:

And just when I thought I’m a good boy and didn’t join the others for the strip club and was about to head home, I ran into the Patta Crew and we kept on drinking at the Hard Rock:

Last Sunday was the Y-3 fashion show. My homie Oli hooked me up with the tickets. They chose a nice location at the Piers in midst soccer fields where people actually still were getting their game on! Made me feel very comfortable, coming down from this whole fashion-week-everybody-is-SO-important madness. Sun was shining, green grass and lots of people were queuing up to get into the well-organized show. Felt like half Germany was there as well! Met some old/new friends from back home… guess it was adidas time.
Of course, the show was filled with celebs like Kanye and his entourage, Milla Jovovich, Tyson Beckford, Lupe Fiasco, NFL star football player Reggie Bush and many more.
The collection was looking good, nothing really new. A collection one would expect from Y-3. Again there were some nice down jackets and coats, no more slim fit pants, it was all baggy and wide-cut, which I really liked. Highlight of the show were definitely the cute little kids who proudly took stage showing the newly introduced Y-3 kids line!
And I think it were the kids that made Yohji himself take the floor at the end of the show bowing in front of the audience, the part he usually skips.
Here some pics of the show:

Also ran into my friend Julia (Reebok) who was in town all the way from Boston:

This is was my favourite outfit of the day. Rocking a native-american wool blanket:

And my friend Jamie (Stylesight):

The “Band of Outsiders” collection presentation was definitely the best show I’ve seen during NY fashion week! Instead of doing a catwalk they put the models in different English-inspired scenes (think models sitting on park benches, talking in an old telephone booth, staying in an English garden and behind piles of old newspapers etc.) and all the visitors were free to walk around the different scenes and check out the collection.
The collection looked very mature and sophisticated as usual and again has very short and slim cuts, especially the jackets and blazers. A lot of curdoroy, tweed coats, flanel shirts, double breasted blazers, cashmere and high-top boat shoes.
Again, again a good crowd was present. Ran into Michael (la MJC), Feride (Uslu Airlines), Sarah (Colette), Eugene (Details) etc. Kanye and Taz “Ti$a” Arnold and his crew were also representing…

And his kids:

This weekend New Yorkers had the privilege to preview and buy the colabo collection of Alexander McQueen for mass retailer Target, which will hit US Target stores 1st of March.
I checked out the pop-up warehouse store near the Hudson River. Location and set-up were cool. They threw a big party Friday night with a rock band playing and a bunch of fashion people. The collection itself however, I thought was rather poor: a lot of studs, all-over prints and the materials were poor H&M quality (I know it’s a cheap line for the masses, but still…). Wasn’t really worth buying something besides one black leather asymmetrical leather vest.
Here some pics of the event:

Last night’s exclusive “ALL GONE” launch @Reed Space was more than ALL GOOD. It was packed. The “ALL GONE” book was on sale for a special price. Belvedere vodka presented their 100% proof colabo with French artist Andre Saraiva aka Mr. A: Belvedere IX. Busy P (Ed Banger) was spinning. It was a fun crowd and a lot of good people showed up…

Me, Brian aka KAWS and Michael (la MJC) the man behind “ALL GONE“:

My man Hawaii Mike (LTD) and the man who taught me last night that 100% proof means that the vodka I was drinking has freakin 50% alcohol in it (killed me!): Thnx, Mikol (Amongst Friends). Btw.: “Oli doesn’t like Asian people.”

And Busy P in action:

THNX to Nico & Do from Reed Space for being such good hosts!
After that Oli, Elin and me hit the MILK Studios for the launch of bi-anual TAR Magazine, who hosted an amazing exhibition of getting into over 300 churches guerilla-style, style different statues, shoot them and get the hell out of there again..

Elin & Oli:

Proud of my man Oli who got the adidas x Jeremy Scott sneaker into TAR magazine and the exhibition:

Eugene (Details) and Oli hitting the final drink at the subMERCER a la: “If you blog me, I blog you!” Hahaha!
