Companion Bearbricks!

28 March 2009, 11.10 | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 comments »

Yay! I got the whole family! The Original Fake x Medicom Companion Bearbicks were released at Firmament last week. Only five of each (1000%, 400% & 100%). My dear BBB colleague Tobi and I expected a huge line-up… but I guess for a minute we forgot that we’re actually not in Tokyo or anywhere else in the world. There was supposed to be a lottery draft, so the chosen lucky ones would be able to buy one of these infamous toys.

We were surprised. No overnight-sleeping in front of the store. No queues. Just exactly five people showed up. No lottery necessary. And when the sixth person showed up in the store about 20 minutes later, Joerg had an extra 1000% Bearbrick in the back (surprise, surprise!), so everbody was happy-snappy!

ONLY IN BERLIN!

Vitra x BBB

26 March 2009, 08.59 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Vitra and BBB planned a little behind-the-back move last week on our managing director Matthias.

Ruben from Vitra, who is our main dealer for all our Panton and Eames chairs (and other office stuff), just got tired of sitting in Matthias’ office on a FAKE Eames lounge-chair and just wanted to get rid of this little piece of S#*#&@#!

So he came up with the idea: “Break The Fake”.

We managed to allure Matthias to the first floor where his fake EAMES chair was already waiting for him next to a chain saw! Just with the words: “Break the fake and your life will be much better…” as an introduction.

That’s what happened next:

Of course, he got a new one from Ruben and Gert. This time one for real men:

HBC Berlin Fleamarket

23 March 2009, 23.56 | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 comments »

The last few Sundays I keep on going to an indoor flea market organized by Berlin based art collective HBC. It’s no only a small flea market but also a get-2-gether of artists and creatives from all over where they have breakfast/snacks all day long, little hippie kids jumping around and DJ’s spinning. Yesterday, they held the “Sunday Seance” with live art performances from Paris, visual magic, couch-cinema and more.

If you experienced the BBB Flea Market in Barcelona, forget about that. This is a whole another thing. Hard to explain.

Welcome to Berlin!

UNDFTD x Masterpiece

22 March 2009, 23.51 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

It surprises me every time how random products produced for the masses or hundreds/thousands of consumers can, in best cases, become real personal and private objects of desire for some individuals. This may be evoked through a special design, logo, text, colour, typography etc.

In my case, Undefeated has become one of my favourites, because the number 5 has followed me pretty much all my life: jersey no. playing Basketball, lucky number in all cases, pretty much all I go I see 5’s.. it’s just my number.

That being said, I was even more happy when I heard about the UNDFTD x Masterpiece colabo shirts:

P1010354.jpg picture by phillakilla1P1010349.jpg picture by phillakilla1

The reason behind my enthusiasm:

MP = Marijana + Philip = Undefeated = UD

Marijana, the love of my life, and me, we used to be undefeated as well, especially during tough and complicated times. That’s why this shirt is pretty special to me… Her lucky number btw. is 5 as well!

Coincidence? I don’t hink so…

Just another example that probably every product has a story of its own…

Firmament

21 March 2009, 11.30 | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 comments »

Berlin based Ueber-Boutique Firmament held a little get-together to present the latest Supreme spring/summer ‘09 collection.

And to put it best in Joerg’s own words: Yes, they have a Supreme corner at Firmament (like every major city seems to have one now) as well as a Sophnet. corner, an Acronym corner, an Original Fake corner and so on and so on…

At first Henne aka Artoo wasn’t allowed to get in…

And then he desperately tried to convince this young lady:

Without success.

Pictopia Exhibition

20 March 2009, 11.07 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Last night was the Opening of the Pictopia Exhibition in Berlin. The “New Character Worlds” took place at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt and was very well curated. Lots of over-sized characters and toys, interactive installations, jump-castles, digital artwork, paintings, photography… you name it. And the best: smiling faces all over the place!

Definitely worth checking it out when you’re in Berlin! Pictoplasma runs from 20 March - 3 May, 2009.

Check out the video and the pics below:

Smiling jumping castle! And all of a sudden all the “cool” dudes became little children again:

Bianca from Nike was also representing with the Cortez Brothers:

The main area with all the different installations was full of surprises:

This moving “eye” was crazy! Following everybody that passed by:

And this mega-power-turbo-boost aerobic video was definitely one of the highlights as well:

Don’t know why, but somehow I remember Mickey and Bambi a little different… they changed, man.

Just got this in a minute ago from my man Alex from Suchasound. Kinda funny to see what’s going on in London town:

Paris, Paris

17 March 2009, 09.54 | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 comment »

I was in Paris last saturday, just in and out, real quick, but the vibe of the city gets me every time. Those cozy little cafés on every corner, les baguettes, café au lait, le fromage and the French style in general is simply beautiful.

Met up with Michael from laMJC who inspired me big time: No alcohol, no cigarettes! BAM! That’s whuzzup! Michael did it for all his life, I’m trying since saturday… let’s see how long my Buddha Life lasts.

Thnx for the talk!

Also, had some time to jump into Colette to check out the new Supreme Section:

But the whole focus was on the Colette x Barbie exhibition. Amazing who all got together to create some unique Barbie products for their 50th anniversarsy: Jeremy Scott, Uslu Airlines, MOB, Bless and many more!

Julia time!

Boston girl (who used to be “Ich-bin-ein Berliner-girl”) Julia from Reebok send me this nice Alife x Reebok colabo Classic!

A white CL Lux with a sublte Alife emroidery at the heel and the clean black speckled mid-sole. I think the best part of it all is the clean mat black box.

DAAANKE SCHOEN, Julia!

Kanye

06 March 2009, 09.07 | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 comments »

Even though I can’t see all the stuff Kanye puts out there anymore (”designing” pretty much the same sneaker (same strap, same colourways etc) for Nike and Vuitton in one season is kinda whack!) and I completely disagree with him being a fashion icon (give anybody I know the same budget for clothes and they’ll dress ten times better), but I must say his latest concert for VH1 Storytellers which has been throughout the whole net the past couple of days somehow got me.

Maybe because I’m an emotional Sissi sometimes … but hey, how often do you see a rapper transform into a singing and Mick-Jagger-style dancing fashion puppet?! You definitely have to have balls for that and only for this move he gets my credits.

The live orchestra, the whole stage-setup and the visuals are pretty impressive! A true performer and entertainer.

Check out the one-man show HERE, especially the first two songs (”See you in my Nightmares” and “Robocop” - watch the Jagger moves!) and “Stronger”.
