Vans Vault x Pendleton&Filson&Brooks – Time to sum up our 2nd event at Soto last week. All I can say is that people were super excited about the products and I don’t have to lose any words about the party we had on the street in front of the store… the people who were there they know.

Last week we launched the Volta Footwear Pop-Up store at Soto! I’ve know Mauro and Giacomo for a while now and still remember how they hit me up back then regarding BBB and wanted to present their first collection. I’ll never forget the first day I met them in person, Giacomo bursted out to me in typical Italian style:”Listen, Phil! We’re gonna be bigger than Clarks!”.

Hahaha… love their spirit! Well, they’re not exactly as big as Clarks, but since their launch they’ve been growing fast and now it’s time to launch their new model: the Strada!

The opening was fun. A lot of good people showed up, especially from abroad. They showed Volta and us a lot of love and I’m glad we didn’t let them down…

Soto – nice to see how the city is getting crowded! A lot people showed us some love (or at least interest) for our store already and passed by today: The Hundreds, Magnus from Pendleton, The Pointer Crew, Jeff Staple etc.

For all those who are still arriving, Soto will throw 2 events this week:

- Wednesday, 7th of July: Volta Footwear Pop-Up Store Launch with Marcelo Burlon behind the decks!

- Thursday, 8th of July: Vans Vault Collection Launch with Taka Hayashi straight from Japan!

Givenchy – Thanks to my brotha Marcelo (you HAVE TO check out his new website btw!!) we had the chance to see the new SS11 collection. To be honest Givenchy is not exactly my kind of style whereas Marcelo is living it to the fullest, but it’s interesting to see how much the brand changed since Riccardo Tisci took over as creative director and designer in 2005. With his minimalistic design and Gothic touches, Tisci managed to draw new attention to the brand and also a new crowd from all over the world.

The overall collection was rather basic and minimalistic kept in black and white as expected, but spiced up with some dark-themed leather maskes and quite a few leopard-print pieces. Combined with the music and the looks of the models the whole atmosphere was dark and heavy, almost scary, which didn’t do justice to the collection.

Again, funny to see into what kind of content and mood you drag your collection with the set-up of your show.
