Copenhagen – Lia and I went to Copenhagen for Fashion Week to finish up our SS12 order round and meet a couple of people. As usual the CIFF were great hosts and offered splendid services.

And first thing at the airport… we had to think of our lovely Eve girls…

And then we… WALKED again… Haha! To the restaurant…
What seems to become a seasonal get-together, Soulland invited a handful of retailers, press and friends to a lovely dinner. Super cozy, good atmosphere and really nice to have the chance to exchange with each other.
And next thing we knew, Jacob and Silas getting a bit emotional:

PRINCE!

08 August 2011, 10.06 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Prince or Michael Jackson?

Sorry, but I have to go for PRINCE! I kind of grew up with his music since my uncle had this one DVD of one of his concerts that I couldn’t stop watching for years.

Last weekend in Copenhagen I finally had the chance to see this legend live in concert at the NPG Festival. And as this wasn’t enough… it came in a double pack and no other than the legendary Chakka Khan was performing as well!. It might have been a little too much for me… I was out of words and I think a little paralyzed, cause I couldn’t really move or dance. I must have looked like my homie Daniel from Frankfurt when he’s trying to hit the dancefloor. Hahaha!

Let me hit you right away with this one:

I think Lia and I were the only ones not wearing purple:
The die-hards:
Chakka Khan!
Not too stupid those Danes… a carton beer carrier:
Prince aka The artists formerly known as Prince aka The Smybol:
And there he was:

For his last song he took about 15-20 random people on stage who were dancing their asses off! Some of them were really funny and you could it on their faces that they couldn’t believe it themselves…
And then almost at the end of the last song it started raining. No, you don’t understand… it was POURING! First, everybody was screaming and thought it was cool, but then we realized that it doesn’t stop anymore and everybody was soaken wet! Festival feeling to the fullest.
You could tell that Lia is a regular festival go-er and was totally prepared as usual:.. NOT.
Me neither. And my new shoes were fucked.
But it was all worth it. I only can recommend you to go see this living legend. So when he’s coming to your country… GO!
Also, big thanks to my  man Nico! (You know why)

Of course, the videos include Aloe’s hit singles “I need a Dollar” and “Loving you is killing me”, but my personal favourite of the night definitely was “Mama hold my hand”. MELT Festival

21 July 2011, 09.14 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

MELT Festival – And another first timer: My first Music Festival (can you believe it??) and my first time camping! Don’t know why, but never did.

So my man Benji really had to put in some work to convince me to go as I almost cancelled the trip, but somehow he managed to and I definitely don’t regret any minute. More than that, I really might be a festival guy!

Ok, ok, once a year is enough, but this experience was really great! Loved it. Thousands of people, great live music from all kinds of genres, good vibes and most of all this MELT location 1,5 hours outside of Berlin just blew me away!

It used to be an old mine and you still have these huuuuuge cranes standing and by night beautifully composed with lights and lasers. I was tripping.

And yes, of course, you have those nasty festival freaks and overly excited teenagers, but hey it’s fun. Really. And camping… best ever. I’m officially hooked.

First time building up a tent:

And I swear we built it up in like 4 minutes. No jokes. So easy. (I guess we had it in us all the time).
The fashion tent:
2 nights. I don’t think anyone brought more stuff than we did. We didn’t really know what to expect, so we just brought everything. From water to food to alcohol to blankets to pillows to 3 outifts per day. Hahaha!
Our neighbours:
Bam. Ready:
We actually thought we have a bad ass tent, but we we saw what was built up around us we clearly realized that we’re amateurs. Those guys took camping really to a next level.
At the location:
Dilim?
Next to The Streets, Robyn, Rusko etc…. I must say that Nicolas Jaar was one of my favourites.

At the main stage:
Benji was unstoppable! (too fast to get on the picture)
The next day we spent pretty much the whole day in the sun, riding around, exploring some lakes and woods that were around… super nice.
Big thanks to Marie-Luise, Nadine, Sarah, Gema and Miriam and of course all the others we met that weekend! And of course my new camping’n'festival partner Benji! And Indra and his Amsterdam crew for making this an unforgettable trip!

I love MCM!

04 July 2011, 14.55 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

I love MCM! – Today opens the MCM satellite store in Torstrasse 114 in Berlin. I don’t know why, but somehow I always felt attracted to their iconic cognac all-over print.

The store will mainly carry their new backpacks and other accessories and you can be sure that I’ll be picking up my favourite item…

The invitation:

Super nice idea, but it looks easier than it actually is. You need an PhD to build this!
So if you’re in town already, make sure to drop by!

Pitti recap

30 June 2011, 21.05 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Pitti recap – I know way too late, but hey… what can you do.

The fair in Florence, Italy is becoming better and better in my eyes, especially for a younger segment even though the most interesting part of Pitti are the classic tailors and the old fashion houses which without a doubt produce the most elegant outfits.

Florence itself is super beautiful. A typical old Italian pitoresque city, the best food and people with style. You’re just going nuts over there.

Of course, we ran into the usual suspects… it’s funny to see always the same people in different settings.

At the show:

My pretty gay friends from CAMO:
This I like:
And this I love: Nanamica!
Coming to Soto soon:
Band of Outsiders was the brand of the show:
And they gave away this funny fortune cookies…
Girl in a NBA jersey. In Germany we say: “Kann man ma machn.” (And that’s a good thing)
Adam Kimmel x Carhartt:
Raf working hard. Sooooooo many quantities:
Rickie from LimitEDition talks, Mark McNairy thinks.
Maharishi is back! Yup, yup.
The guys from CAMO rockin it hard!
No show without this guy:
Davide & Daniel:
Micky Blue Eyes:
At the Volta presentation:
Nice quotes. Made me smile:
On the way to Ari’s photo exhibition:
Beautiful location.

At the Band of Outsiders Show:
The goofy ones:
And ending the night at the Conde Nast Party (which was more like a whole concert!):
The crew:

Paris recap

28 June 2011, 20.43 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Paris recap – Yup, yup, it’s this time of the year again. Traveling, full days, short nights, brands, collections, budgets, maps, shows, trying to get a cap (!!)… but it’s also always like a big get-together. A reunion. Basically the whole market is there. You see all the brands, the people behind the brands, your friends, your “competitors”, the people you normally only read or write about and you meet a whole lot of different interesting people.

Shaking hands everywhere, smiling… but if you’re honest you always wonder: “I wonder how much money they make?”, “Which brand are they going for?”, “What kind of quantities do they order?”, “How the fuck do they survive?”, “Uuh, I heard it’s not going too well” or “Damn, they’re selling like crazy!”.

Or when it comes to brands: “Damn, that’s expensive!”, “Pff, really?” or (I know you know that one) “Shit, that’s ugly”.

Hahaha… love it. Love seeing everybody in Paris again, hanging, dining, partying, exchanging knowledge and experience. That’s what it’s all about. And in the end, if you break it all down, it’s a peoples business. And I’m happy to run along.

@Acne: Their set-up is really impressive. Professional from top to toe!

Our man Jonas:
Always the best treatment:
And she’s like: “Dude, make up your mind!”
Some Adam Kimmel teasers:
David (smart as usual) and Frank the Tank:
Dinner time:
My sisters at Sansovino6:
Probably the man of the hour: Thom Browne. In front of the show:
Mr. Sossa:
Style:
The show was über-packed and most of the runway pieces were just out of space!
At the Acne show…
Beautiful location.
A little overview:
Next day at the TB showroom…  the collection wasn’t all crazy as in the show, there were some amazing pieces! And of course we couldn’t resist…
More to come…
