I love MCM!

04 July 2011, 14.55 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

I love MCM! – Today opens the MCM satellite store in Torstrasse 114 in Berlin. I don’t know why, but somehow I always felt attracted to their iconic cognac all-over print.

The store will mainly carry their new backpacks and other accessories and you can be sure that I’ll be picking up my favourite item…

The invitation:

Super nice idea, but it looks easier than it actually is. You need an PhD to build this!
So if you’re in town already, make sure to drop by!

Pitti recap

30 June 2011, 21.05 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Pitti recap – I know way too late, but hey… what can you do.

The fair in Florence, Italy is becoming better and better in my eyes, especially for a younger segment even though the most interesting part of Pitti are the classic tailors and the old fashion houses which without a doubt produce the most elegant outfits.

Florence itself is super beautiful. A typical old Italian pitoresque city, the best food and people with style. You’re just going nuts over there.

Of course, we ran into the usual suspects… it’s funny to see always the same people in different settings.

At the show:

My pretty gay friends from CAMO:
This I like:
And this I love: Nanamica!
Coming to Soto soon:
Band of Outsiders was the brand of the show:
And they gave away this funny fortune cookies…
Girl in a NBA jersey. In Germany we say: “Kann man ma machn.” (And that’s a good thing)
Adam Kimmel x Carhartt:
Raf working hard. Sooooooo many quantities:
Rickie from LimitEDition talks, Mark McNairy thinks.
Maharishi is back! Yup, yup.
The guys from CAMO rockin it hard!
No show without this guy:
Davide & Daniel:
Micky Blue Eyes:
At the Volta presentation:
Nice quotes. Made me smile:
On the way to Ari’s photo exhibition:
Beautiful location.

At the Band of Outsiders Show:
The goofy ones:
And ending the night at the Conde Nast Party (which was more like a whole concert!):
The crew:

Paris recap

28 June 2011, 20.43 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Paris recap – Yup, yup, it’s this time of the year again. Traveling, full days, short nights, brands, collections, budgets, maps, shows, trying to get a cap (!!)… but it’s also always like a big get-together. A reunion. Basically the whole market is there. You see all the brands, the people behind the brands, your friends, your “competitors”, the people you normally only read or write about and you meet a whole lot of different interesting people.

Shaking hands everywhere, smiling… but if you’re honest you always wonder: “I wonder how much money they make?”, “Which brand are they going for?”, “What kind of quantities do they order?”, “How the fuck do they survive?”, “Uuh, I heard it’s not going too well” or “Damn, they’re selling like crazy!”.

Or when it comes to brands: “Damn, that’s expensive!”, “Pff, really?” or (I know you know that one) “Shit, that’s ugly”.

Hahaha… love it. Love seeing everybody in Paris again, hanging, dining, partying, exchanging knowledge and experience. That’s what it’s all about. And in the end, if you break it all down, it’s a peoples business. And I’m happy to run along.

@Acne: Their set-up is really impressive. Professional from top to toe!

Our man Jonas:
Always the best treatment:
And she’s like: “Dude, make up your mind!”
Some Adam Kimmel teasers:
David (smart as usual) and Frank the Tank:
Dinner time:
My sisters at Sansovino6:
Probably the man of the hour: Thom Browne. In front of the show:
Mr. Sossa:
Style:
The show was über-packed and most of the runway pieces were just out of space!
At the Acne show…
Beautiful location.
A little overview:
Next day at the TB showroom…  the collection wasn’t all crazy as in the show, there were some amazing pieces! And of course we couldn’t resist…
More to come…

MADE VOV Interview: Anton Unai

18 June 2011, 12.05 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Anton Unai is a funny character. In a good way. Not only is this Spanish born man one of Berlin’s most acclaimed young artists, but he also blasts out 100% sympathy. Anton is a self-taught artist who mainly uses materials from the streets that reflect the urban landscape and has exhibited many of his work at acclaimed art shows such as Volta6 Art Fair Basel and Urban Affairs.

Team MADE sat down with him to get an insight into his way of working, his life, the deepness of his work and how it feels to be in Berlin as a foreign artist.

Enjoy the interview!

Puma x UNDFTD launch @SOTO-Berlin

14 June 2011, 19.36 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

We hosted the Puma x UNDFTD launch last week at Soto and held a little BBQ in front of the store. First it wasn’t looking too good because of the rain and then before we even started the police showed up asking for permissions and giving us lectures about restrictions and fines and stuff.

Well, luckily we’re in Berlin, so we simply kept on doing what we were doing and that’s that.

Big thanks to all the people that came out celebrating with us!

Moby @MADE

13 June 2011, 21.54 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Our last MADE event featured the first photo exhibition of music icon Moby, who exclusively presented his new photo book in Berlin. And MADE wouldn’t be MADE if we just left it like that… so he also performed an amazing unplugged concert.

Check out the video!

Hong Kong

09 June 2011, 09.50 | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 comment »

Hong Kong – So after 3 days of Singapore we hit Hong Kong for 2 days. Definitely not enough time to experience this great and exciting city to the fullest, but we took a glimpse at it.

Big thanks to Edward and Kevin P. for showing us some of their favourite spot!

soHOTEL (what else):
MCM. German. I’m a fan!
Luckily we had Edward with us to show us all the good stores…
Btw. we lost Laust for 2 hours. He said he was in heaven. Aka the Sophnet. store.

The most exciting trip was definitely going outside the city centre to the Undercover and the Think Silly store. Both pretty amazing concepts located in an industrial area:
All walls completely filled with flowers!
Think Silly:
At Kevin Poon’s pop-up store: WOAW.
At the moment it’s all about glasses, but the concept changes every several months. If you can’t find your right glasses here ,then you’re just lost.
Ed!
Just around the corner is Kevin’s JUICE store. Super nice selection. A store where you really can buy!
The CLOT & Coca-Cola project:
Raining.
Best Chinese food I’ve ever had.
At night Kevin took us to his favourite bar Tazmania:
Not much time… but there’s always time for a good run. I love to run in new cities. Gives you a whole new perspective. First time I was running with Laust. Didn’t know this Danish guy could run like the wind! He overlapped me once! Quite embarrasing. Didn’t talk to him for the rest of the day. Pff.
Love this Nike Gyakusou stuff:
Bastard. Too fast:
The same day we checked out the “Sneaker Street” of Hong Kong. Imagine countless of Nike and adidas flagships next to each other and in betweeen hindreds of small independet sneaker stores!
Hahaha:
Really?
Old lady got style:
Serious business:
Hong Kong by night:
Korean food:
Last treat… 75 minutes foot massage! (No… FOOT massage. No happy Ending. Too many people in the room)
See you next time, Hong Kong!

Singapore

02 June 2011, 14.17 | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 comment »

Singapore – We hit Singapore last week checking out the Blueprint show over there and fortunately I also was able to spend some quality time with my beloved sister. It was a super spontaneous and rather hectic trip, but lucky me I had some of my boys travelling with me. Laust & Benji from Berlin and Emi from Frankfurt! So it was definitely quite a journey and a trip to remember. A good start: Singapore Airlines. And maybe the colabo of the year: Givenchy x Singapore Airlines!

13 hours flight and we arrived at 6.30am and couldn’t check in… nap time:
Last time I’ve been in Singapore was our 5 years ago and the architecture and the pace of change in the city just blew me away.
The highest swimming pool in the world at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel:
From the net:
Emi, Benji, me & my sister:
Laust (missing his girlfriend already):
Looks like in the movie Troy:
Some fashion shows at Blueprint:
Maluku represent!
The variety of food is pretty amazing! Anything you want… the best being Chinese, Thai and Indian.
Outside food court:
Nuff said:
The boys:
Laust = swag:
Vivim’s “Free International Laboratory”?
My hotel room view:
Before the party:
Next day… store check. First stop: Surrender. they have all the good stuff… Band of Outsiders, Visvim, Thom Browne, WTaps… you name it.
And right next to it there is Front Row with a complete collection of Cosmic Wonder:
@the Leica store:
Almost a classic. (cause I don’t know how much longer they gonna make it)
Laust was craving for Ambush since we’re there. And we pretty much couldn’t get him out of the store! Sophnet it was.
Really?
Yes, he did.
HAHAHA!
I needed some shots after that. Burger-shots.
@Limited Edition sneaker store… they have several stores spread out over the whole city:
Our Indo crew:
If we roll, we roll in style…
Singapore’s finest dish: Chilli crab!
Blueprint after party:
Our home-girl Zarani:
And this is pretty much the best invention EVER: Sausage, mash patatoes and gravy IN A GLASS! (No worries, Laust and I will bring it to Berli
n soon!)
Funny. Jesus was with us all the time:
China town:
Head Porter?
That’s whuzzup!
The Batman Tower:
Our last night and our last surpise: Mc Donald’s french fries with sea weed!
Buy it:
Shake it:
Eat it:
And off to Hong Kong we went. To be continued…
