“080808 An iconic product instalation”
2 months ago we have been contacted by Nike Berlin, they were asking us to work on a Nike global project for Roger Federer 27th birthday, the date was 080808… which was a really special date due to the Beijing OG opening and also the launch for the Nike Sportswear. Nike wanted to make a special present to Roger to celebrate his talent!
So a week after they called we were in Wimbledon at Roger’s house meeting him and Mirka, we had a long chat with Mirka (his girl friend and manager) to define the 15 defining moments of Roger’s life, the project was a surprise for Roger so he didnt took part to the discussion. It has been really a good moment, a kind of strange sunny afternoon in a nice garden with nice persons! Roger is definetly a smilling gentleman with an open mind, a cool attitude and definetly a strong aura!
Right after we went back to Lausanne and start to work!
We had one month to create and produce the all project, we translated the 15 moments in symbols, nike chose 10 out of them, plus we create and designed the sleeve which contain the tee and the windrunner and then an instalation around the concept of the project: “Infinity and Magic” hopefuly Sartoria was in charge for the prod and Mr. Tinker Hatfield was the one who said GO or DONT in this project.
All this project has been hectic times!!
At the end we did it, for several reasons the all project didn’t happened in Beijing, due to timing problems, legal rights and maybe not the perfect moment considering it was not a really good time for Roger, so everything has been postpone to the “US Open” and Roger received is present at the Mercer Streeet opening in NYC.
Thanks to Mirka and Roger and also to Nike who gave us this big oportunity!
