Cody Hudson “Tambourine solo” Part one.

09 December 2008, 20.52 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Our Friend Cody Hudson will have a new art show December 12.More infos below.

Tambourine Solo: Take One employs a sculptural assembly of found objects and collected tambourines, entitled Too Late to Keep the Change, Too Late to Pay, and two video screens to create an environment of sight and sound that investigates the themes of hopefulness, euphoria and doom, community and solitude that Hudson has articulated over the last few years.  The video, broadcast simultaneously on two facing flat screen monitors, has the look and feel of an updated historical document.  The graphic quality of the images looks as if they have been transferred by facsimile or Xerox, while the added shapes of primary colors, laid over the black and white images, are reminiscent of Hudson’s contemporary paintings and lithographs.  The video depicts geodesic domes and groups of people, which give the piece a decidedly historical feel, referencing Buckminster Fuller, hippie culture, and revolution.  Images appear and reappear to give the video a trance-like quality, amplified by the soundtrack, a percussive piece performed by Zachary Mastoon, also known as Caural.  The soundtrack refers back to the central element, the tambourine sculpture, which, with its connecting wooden braces, can be viewed as a pentagram or a star, revealing Hudson’s insistence on a poetic ambiguity that give his work it’s charge.”

The gallery will have a reception for the artist on Friday, December 12, from 5 to 8pm. The exhibition continues through January 24, 2009.
Also in the main gallery is an interesting show titled: Bad Moon. a group show featuring Steven Husby, Jason Lazarus, Curtis Mann, Esteban Schimpf, & Greg Stimac.

“Lord of the time-streams, master of the multiverse, androgynous, bisexual, well-dressed, gun-toting, drug-taking, fast car-driving arsonist, rock star, nuclear physicist and assassin”

 CORNELIUS

 http://vimeo.com/2428345

THE FIRST STEP… THE CLIP, THE STORY, THE NIGHTMARE

The clip intertwines the real Bloody Beetroots life style  with the oniric dimension of the nightmare. A tale without any redemption, an absolute neorealism under strobe lights, an out-and-out social piece, a vortex without ideology…practically the era of the rotten apples without any dialogue.

Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo, the satyr, the man without face, the iconoclast, lives his umpteenth reincarnation and he does it trying to escape from a clumsy dream inhabited by vampirized characters (Tommy Tea, Steve Aoki, Mon Colonel, Crookers, LA Riots etc.etc.). It is a noir back-of-the-scene activity, where the maximum aspiration is the flash of a camera from the social blogs. Editing and photography follow the rhetoric and the fil rouge of  “Smack My Bitch Up” from Prodigy, where the dodecaphonic histerya of the international parties shot by Mark “Cobrasnake” is added.

                                            2.55 MINUTES OF PURE UNCONSCIOUSNESS

Cornelius is not only a videoclip but an elaborate products combining within itself: music, arts and fashion.

A thorough social piece of work in various acts, with unvarnished aspect of a reality that dwells the nights.

Foremost character, only leading dream actor, even though in flesh and bones: Cornelius- Rifo, the alterego of the characther of Moorcock.

SOON CORNELIUS WILL BE UNVEILED IN ITS WHOLENESS
