Sixpack France x Joe Misurelli x Polaroid Capsule

31 March 2010, 14.44 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

We present you our new capsule collection taken from our SS10 “Peyote Poem collection” and designed by the American artist Joe Misurelli.

The line consists of three pop-abstract polaroids printed on two white tee shirts and a black one.

While creating the line, Joe Misurelli told us more about his creative process, inspirations and the feelings he had around the line.

Here are his words :

“These photos are taken with a modified polaroid pro-pack. With it I’m able to take extreme close-ups. Each print consists of multiple exposures on a single sheet of film combined to form an abstract landscape.

The concept stems from psychedelic LP art and musicians like Santana, Pink Floyd etc. but just as importantly people like Carl Sagan, Neil Degrasse Tyson and Buckminster Fuller. These dudes were the real deal. They brought deep scientific and utopian ideas to the general public.
The images that their work conjure-up in my head are what I wanted to depict in these polaroids.”

The collection is exclusively available online.

“Miroir”

“Solaris”

“Sacrifice”

Sixpack France x Bell x Armageddon

19 March 2010, 18.25 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Friends, we are very pleased to unveil this “Armageddon” tee shirt.
Designed by the Japanese studio BELL, this piece is an ode to Nostradamus, the famous French St-Remy-De-Provence-based seer.
We wanted to create a kind of  supporter tee shirt with an aesthetic coming from American colleges.
The logo is based on a real portrait of the prophet but his face has been replaced with a new one… to better stick to our era.

Who is the new king of apocalypse ?

Available here on a very limited run.

Cast of VICES

18 March 2010, 17.50 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Obsessions of the day: Cast of VICES.

We met those guys when we were in Los Angeles.
Working in New York, they created very good and impressive pieces of jewellery all based on on cigarette butts, pills, bottle caps and cocke bags.

“Born from a desire to create artifacts out of our vices, Cast of Vices celebrates the inherent design aesthetic of these substances while at the time casting a critical eye on pop culture and our obsession with self-medication and addictions.”

Sixpack France on Label

17 March 2010, 18.41 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

We had an interesting feature on the latest issue of LABEL.
The Belgian fashion magazine asked us about the brand philosophy and influences…
Thanks to Stéphanie.

Voice to Sixpack investigator and founder, Lionel Vivier : “Our philosophy is simple: to be sincere in our work, have fun and always surprise and grab the attention of our audience. I define Sixpack as a fashion brand with a cultural dimension.
“To me Sixpack’s aesthetic is a mix of pop cultures and experimentations, with codes, hidden meanings and implicit cultural references.”
“I let myself guided by a kind of self-fulfilment through contradictions, and in many human relations. I am fond of what raises surprise and questioning. André Breton’s Surrealism, for instance, with his concept of hypnotic sleeps and automatic writings. Drugs and hallucinogenic substances have always intrigued and attracted me.”
“As brand designers, what we want is to tell a story playing with colors, tastes, and a different-leveled aesthetic. In two words : to create an epic story.”

“It Was On Earth That I Knew Joy” Interview: Benbo George

08 March 2010, 18.12 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Who are you?

Benbo George, an illustrator and graphic designer, from Liverpool, UK

Why do you think you have been invited to be a part of the art show?

Possibly because the abstract nature of my work lends itself the abstract nature of our existence.

What is the link between the movie It Was On Earth That I Knew Joy and your poster?

The end of our time on earth.

What are your top three favorite movies?

Clockwork Orange, Rumble Fish and Annie Hall.

What did you learn today?

That Napoleon was not actually small. His height at the time of his death was recorded in French measurements. These were never converted to the english measurements, causing him to ‘lose’ around 5 inches in height. He was actually an average height for this period of time.
