Street Dreams

Any of you that give a shit have been following the progress, and our coverage, of Street Dreams, the skate movie that Rob Dyrdek produced, co-wrote and starred in. Some of you have been hating on it for sure, and others have probably kept an open mind. Well I finally got a chance to see Street Dreams on Sunday night, and you know what, the shit was dope. Is it going to win the academy award for acting? No. But is it supposed to? Hell no. The movie is exactly what Rob and my homies Jason and Sal from Berkela have been promising all along: an entertaining movie that revolves accurately around what it is really like to be a kid addicted to skateboarding. Nothing more and nothing less. It’s really kinda fucked up because Rob is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t because Street Dreams is a movie that a grip of people are going to show up to see determined to hate. Mostly people just avoid movies they don’t think they will like and opt to go see shit that appeals to them. For Street Dreams, any skate-claiming dude with a chip on his shoulder is going to see the movie just to try to dis it. But I think that for every one of those dudes, there will be a hundred kids who just want to enjoy a movie that speaks to their lives. Rob and co deserve a lot of credit for getting Street Dreams made and into real deal movie theaters. That’s HUGE no matter what the ultimate dramatic consensus on the movie is. These guys did something that everyone said was impossible. Congrats homies and sick fucking job!! I’m gonna see it again for sure.
