I usually don’t get all corny on Thanksgiving each year and spout all sorts of reflective shit about thankful this and thankful that, I usually just drink too much red wine and alienate friends and loved ones. But this year my Thanksgiving was super mellow and in the absence of copious amounts of wine I actually did get to being thankful about some shit. Then today I woke up (early I might add) and got the news that the story I did for ESPN Skateboarding about the Tony Hawk Show in Paris had achieved page one status on ESPN.com. That’s the world leader in sports yo! Needless to say I was buggin. A story on skateboarding hammering it out on the ESPN home page in the heat of college football season and on the same day Tiger Woods gets into an accident! If I didn’t already know it, today would have sealed the deal, we are here to stay! But the real point here is about thankful-ness, so this year I want to make it completely clear that I am a super thankful motherfucker. Most of all I am thankful for opportunity. If you take it, opportunity is the gateway to everything in life. Aside from opportunity, and completely in tandem with it as well, I am thankful for my friends and family. Every opportunity I’ve ever had has come through the amazing bunch of people I’ve come to know and love in this short life. Thank you. But enough blubbering. For this project in particular I want to thank Catlin and Shana for making it happen and to Tracy and Adam for pushing it through. And I thank skateboarding and snowboarding for changing my life. So I’m in Paris for the huge Quiksilver 40th Anniversary x Tony Hawk show at the Grand Palais and they are holding this massive press conference for Tony and like 400 journalists from all over the world, and who pops up out of nowhere to host the entire press conference? The Pacquiao vs Cotto fight on Saturday night was one of the illest fights I’ve seen in a while. From the 24/7’s to the final bell, I was all in. Man, Pac-Man is the truth and Cotto, to his credit, kept coming back for more like a true warrior should. It was even a little over the top for HBO to keep running the tape of his wife and kid watching him get pummeled and then announcing repeatedly how they had to leave the building cause they couldn’t take it anymore. Anyway, I was stoked and I’m not even really into boxing like that. My homie Le Deux on the other hand, had this hand drawn Pac-Man shirt ready to go as soon as the TKO got called. That’s dedication!

A couple weeks ago I got the chance to get over to Germany to peep out the new Volkswagen Golf on her home turf. While the trip was an epic pilgrimage for me on several levels, I have to say that to be unleashed onto the autobahn in a zero mileage, fine-tuned TDI was damn near a defining moment in my life. I always knew that speed limits were bullshit! But past that, from the mind-blowing efficiency of the Germans to the historical implications of touring rural eastern Germany in a VW, the trip was a once in a lifetime experience. I have a bunch to share but let me start with me and the homie Nikhil mad lost on drive day #1. It was 8am and the gas station was selling beer and this old dude was telling us that the autobahn was in every direction. It wasn’t.

Even though I’m not supposed to, I love two teams in Brasil, Corinthians in Sao Paulo and Flamengo in Rio. So you know I was stoked to see this Corinthians New Era on The Hype BR this week. One funny thing about Brasil is that for some reason all the soccer team hats are mad tight, like crazy tight, like a shape of hat that doesn’t even exist here, or really anywhere for that matter. So the end result is, you can’t really rock a joint for your squad cause these hats are impossible to put on your head. Now New Era x Corinthians = problem solved. Dope. Can someone send me one?! Valeu!

There is some terrible shit going on Brasil right now with major power outages that are wreaking havoc across the country ranging from trapping people in elevators to putting hospitals at risk to the new announcement that 8.5 million people in the southeast are without water. You can’t make this stuff up. Out of left motherfucking field, or Dallas to be exact, comes this ill anthem from the Paperchaserz complete with the repeating chorus of “Frank, Frank,” and a graphic that looks exactly like the Frank151 logo. What?! Domingo, you better be on a plane to D-Town ready to sign these dudes right meow!

Together with my grande parceiro, Lucas Penido from TheHypeBR, I took part in an interview with Converse Brasil about the legendary John Varvatos. The clip, or episodio as it’s called, is currently running front and center on the Converse Brasil site. The funny shit is, I did the interview via Skype and I guess the video got fucked up so they just took a bunch of stills from the column, good thing I didn’t have anything too buck wild up there, damn. I gotta shout out the dude who put it together, Daniel Bacchieri, as well as re-insert my plea to Varvatos himself that got edited out of the final version: John, bring CBGB’s back.
