My homie Shadi put me down to his man Ross Menuez’s latest endeavor: Salvor Projects which is having it’s grand opening in NYC tonight. On display in the modernist cavern designed by Nick Dine will be Salvor’s latest bag collection as well as men’s and women’s apparel. Tonight’s event is private but stop through to see the space next week, it’s rad! Salvor Projects Store is located at 172 Forsyth Street, NYC. More looks after the jump.

Converse x NYC

Converse opened up their new Soho flagship store last night to a crowd that ranged from Julius Irving to that chick who played Precious to acclaimed Latina actress Frances Ortiz. They also had DJ sets from Albert Hammond Jr., Q-Tip and a live set from Matt and Kim. It’s a dope spot with lots of fresh details like the Grinch on the wall in the children’s corner and the pair of Chucks hanging off the pipes on the ceiling as well as a full Chuck Taylor customization bar in the back. They might want to look into learning how to put a skate deck together though. A bunch of flicks after the jump.

My old friend, Photographer/Entrepreneur Noah CEO-Ah aka SeeThruMoney has another photo show at his old haunt L’asso this month, starting September 1 and going through the 20th. Always the analog cat, he steered completely clear of digital and shot entirely on a Nikon F-5 with no photoshopping or other digital alteration although mind alteration was certainly allowed. The opening pops off Wednesday September 1. Info after the jump.

Pat Conlon x Women

02 December 2009, 22.22 | Posted in Art, homies, openings | No comments »

I first met Pat Conlon about ten years ago at this crazy gallery/brownstone on the upper east side where he was showing some work. The spot itself was very much out of the downtown element I’m used to but Pat’s pieces, huge paintings on top of giant swaths of a billboard for the movie Spider Man, blew my mind. Pat’s intense brush strokes juxtaposed against the hyper glossy surrealism of the advertisement, plus the fact that I assumed Pat had stolen a billboard the size of a city bus, cemented in my mind that he was an artist willing to put in some serious work.

I’ve seen a lot of Pat’s stuff over the years but I don’t think I’ve seen the billboard stuff since, so I’m super stoked that he’s bringing some of those pieces back to Gallery Bar for his latest exhibition which opens tonight. The show is officially called “Works of Women” and features Pat’s take on all things feminine. Come through from 6pm to 9pm tonight if you want to meet Pat and grab a drink or two and if you miss it, the exhibit will be up from now until Christmas. Gallery Bar is located at 120 Orchard Street between Rivington and Delancey.

We cool Pat?

My good friend and one of the most talented dudes I know, Pat Conlon, is having a group art show this month and he’s kicking it off tomorrow night. Pat, along with Jeramy Fletcher, Ted Riederer, Sylvia Ortiz, Jeffrey Beebe, and Daniel York Krupin will be showing his works at the Mindy Wyatt Gallery to the tune of some wine, women, and song. There will also be a screening of a film called, This Is Berlin, Not New York, which I know nothing about but am curious about anyway, having just returned from that fine city. Everything pops off at 6pm. Full info after the jump.
