As hard as it is to believe, I’ve never made it out to Austin for South by Southwest in all my travels. Shit, I had never even set foot inside the state of Texas until a layover on my way to Mexico last year. I’m still not really sure if that’s a good thing or not but one thing is for sure, if I was gonna go to SXSW, this would be the year. My partners in crime at Frank151 and FrankRadio have put together a showcase that could easily lay claim to being the illest in the history of the festival. Let me break it down for the skeptics: they’ve got WU TANG CLAN x FISHBONE!! I didn’t even believe it when Domingo told me for the first time. Two of the most influential (not to mention large) crews in the history of hip hop and rock on the same stage is just bananas. Then they’ve got YELAWOLF, TROUBLE ANDREW, ROCKY BUSINESS and ERYKAH BADU like it’s no big deal. Obviously it’s a big fuckin’ deal! With so much poppin off for CMJ, even the most discerning music snob can get a case of the “fuck thats” and choose to skip the Marathon all together. I mean, there are just too many shows and to be honest too many bands that suck. But there is also some really dope shit going on this week too.
