The Real CBC

As part of the magical mystery shred tour this season, Herndada, Uncle Craig, and I got put down by our homie Ryan Proctor to one of the illest zones at Whistler Blackcomb, the CBC. Named because the the trails above it are referenced by Canadian TV shows, CBC is a glade run on Blackcomb that was only added to the resort property 7 years ago and is still largely unpatrolled. What makes it totally unique is the fact that the entire area was hit by forest fires this summer and is so burnt out that there isn’t a single branch to get in your way and the only real hazard is brushing up into a trunk and etching a line of soot across your coat. But shredding there is like cruising some post-apocalyptic nuclear winter warzone, it is ill as fuck. That’s Mike Hernandez above ripping a big backside lipslide on a snowed out boulder in the middle of CBC. Find this spot if you can! More photos by Craig Wetherby as well as some of the fires from the Ministry Of Forest and Range BC after the jump.

A Hernie Runs Through It

I’ve just spent the last week in unbelievably beautiful British Columbia and between Whistler/Blackcomb and the City of Squampton it has been one of the raddest trips of my life. I’ve got some more pow shots to share but for now peep OG x FDNY shred head Mike Hernandez crossing the Cheakamus River on a rotted out fir tree like it ain’t nothin. Shoutouts to Anthony, Robin, and Dean McQueen!

SHREDDY NEW YEAR!

We are doing it up big for New Years this year! Craig, Hernandez and I blazed into Squamish BC yesterday and got right do it. First stop was the most insane night shred mission at Grouse Mountain in Vancouver. I had never been to Grouse before and the only way to describe it would be to say that riding there under the lights during a foggy powder dump is like shredding on Pluto during an intergalactic space war – shit is whizzing by you at light speed and you can’t see a fucking thing. In other words – it was epic. Peep some more pics on Craig’s Rad Collector column. Happy New Year!
