The North Face iPhone App
My good homey Nate Bosshard, who heads up The North Face’s Action Sports unit, hit me up this week to tell me about the iPhone app he created. I was a little shocked at first because I have been secretly working on some iPhone apps and was just waiting for Nate to tell me that he’d gone ahead and put my idea into production even though I hadn’t even told him about it yet. However Nate’s app is totally different and perhaps even more useful than mine, although you’ll have to be the judge once my shit drops. Anyhoo, as an international shred fiend and consummate distrustor of resort ski reports (yeah the mountain is empty, let’s say its dumping!) Nate wanted to create an app that would give him real time, super accurate snow conditions for any mountain in the world. As opposed to the development team I am running with (none) Nate had access to the heads at Factory Design Labs and within a month they had The North Face Snow Report app wrapped up from concept to rollout and available for free download on iTunes. Now you can get detailed forecasts, wind info, high resolution trail maps, direct links to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration weather monitors, and even a handy North Face store locator all in the trendy iPhone having palm of your hand.
