I’ve been a fan of Timberland my entire life. From my New England roots to my time on the tundra of Wisconsin to years of pounding the pavement of Brooklyn to my current globe trotting mountain lifestyle, they’ve always been my boot of choice, not to mention they’re also my namesake. That’s why I was literally blown away to be honored by the company with one of only nine pairs of the new 10061’s aka the 6 Inch Wheat. I haven’t been without a pair of 6 Inch wheats for at least 20 years and was actually wearing a pair of black on black 6 Inch’s as I was lured into an ominous room at Epiphany, Timberland’s NYC partners, for a “surprise.” I turned my back for a second and when I turned around again this beautiful wooden box, custom made by GoodWoodNYC and bearing my name was presented to me. Inside in all their wheated out glory, was a first look at the first redesigned Timberland 6 Inch Wheat since their invention in 1973. While the boot looks just as classic as ever from the outside, Timberland has added an anti-fatigue midsole and flexible toecap to the 6 Inch to address the one complaint the boot has ever had – its comfort. I’ll be out and about this week in these joints with a full report to come. Thanks to Brian, Coltrane, Jan, and Jenna for the opportunity! Check out full looks at the package after the jump.
