Gangstarr!!!!Blahzay!

As we are sending out these new caps and Tshirts to stores this week, it really hits home when it comes to my personal taste with music.  In the 90’s I was a die hard East Coast Hip Hop guy and these caps really brought me back towards that movement. Below is what you will find in our account base and thank you all to all stores who are being supportive of the In4m brand.  We appreciate you!

Thanks again towards all stores supporting our movement.

1996!

16 June 2011, 13.34 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

1996 was a great year as I just turned 21 and got into music more then anything. I got my first set of Technics 1200’s and would practice how to play records at every given moment. I bought one brand new table for 600.00 and got my second one from a good friend Cary Harada aka DJ XL…as he had a friend who was getting rid of his stuff. As I saw the trailer of the new documentary for Michael Rappaports new movie coming out Beats, Rhymes and Life I remembered this album from A Tribe Called Quest as I got some advanced copies of vinyl before the Album dropped. I remember going to my friends house(kealii) and giving him my 2nd copy of the record and we had a little release extravaganza in honor of the Tribe. From their first album till Qtips Vivrant Thing and Phifes solo joints on the Supprappin Label, and Raphael Saadiq with Lucy Pearl! These guys are a real honor on keeping the vibe on the floor or lounge. Some great songs below and I can’t wait till the movie comes out!

Getting older but still believe that these are true classics!

So weird that I got a random phone call from Ferdie today which was actually an accidental call as he was trying to reach another Todd. I told Ferdie…don’t you remember me…Kenny Brimer? There are a lot of people that still need help and Ferdie has put together a fundraiser golf tournament to help raise funds. I am really glad I got this call from Ferdie and just think its almost been a year since our brethren Kenneth Brimer has passed. Still thinkin about you bro! We all miss you!

Thanks again everyone and the original post is below.

As I mentioned in my earlier posts from 6-8 months ago about a great friend Kenny Brimer and his battle with Leukemia has come to an end today at 11:15 PM Hawaii Time. Kenny was such a great friend to everyone he encountered with and whomever knew Kenny would be able to tell a story about his or her experiences. Since I saw the post from Fitted Hawaii’s Rene Matthyssen whom has always been a strong figure in our old crew I kind of felt that things were going to be different. Yong-Ki Chang another friend that went to High School with Kenny has really taught me a ton about things, friendships, relationships and life. I value all the input and lessons that I have learned from all of my friends have given me over time! I apologize for posting this on my blog but felt that everyone should know what happened. Yong-Ki told me that after Kenny went through his transplant that the real test was set after the fact. I would be the optimistic one as I always believe in things getting better but that is an easier belief as Kenny was always fighting for the one day he could step on his beloved lifestyle Skateboarding. I am also very thankful for everyone who did what they could for Kenny while he was at the City of Hope! Kenny….I love you man! Well get a session in when I see you again! Thanks again Everyone. Please see below for a set of Kenny’s self made Video’s that he did himself before he even left for California for his transplant.

UPDATED 7/27/10

Going to add each song that was in Kenny’s Playlist. I remember buying this cassette single at Jelly’s when I was in 8th or 9th grade. This was when I was realizing that I was going to be committed to Skateboarding 100%. A great group of friends that were older were teaching me about what to listen to and what not to listen to was happening to me at such a younger age. The Cult is timeless!

Thank you again everyone for listening and thanks again to my great circle of friends who was there for Kenny. My heart and prayers goes out to the people that has gotten to know Jonas over time. As the tragedy opened my eyes on a couple days ago I found myself re-connecting with people. I remember meeting Jonas at my very first ASR tradeshow where I was buying for a shop called Headside. I recall getting a catalog mailer with LRG’s first line which was like 8 Tshirts, 3 Caps, 2 Jackets, Hoodies, 2 pants and a couple of Bucket Caps with the Mic Man on it. I remember telling Ryan…We need to check out for this brand as I saw he had the Triple Thread Dj’s wearing the gear. Ryan and myself get to California and drive down from LA to SD and stopped by the LAB in Orange County and visit one of our bosses friend store called Empire. I saw some LRG stuff in there and was really intrigued on how the brand was already in Market. Fast forward to ASR…I was a nervous wreck as ASR was really crazy and this is where I saw brands like Triple 5 Soul, Milkcrate, Alphanumeric and others for the first time…As I was wandering, I bumped into Shortkut and asked him to introduce me to the LRG guys and he introduce me to Mikey F and Jonas. I got their info and brought the brand into our store a few months later.

Fast Forward one year…1999

As the ITF World Finals was held in Hawaii where the world best DJ’s got a chance to visit Hawaii alongside the competition. I remember meeting Gabe Sanchez from Urb Magazine as he helped with getting URB involved with the ITF competition. Gabe has been a great friend ever since and the words below are what he and I have been discussing.

Gabe Sanchez: I found the flyer from the night I first met Jonas. He was helping Pasha/ITF (Pasha introduced us) and I load up the turntables on a truck after the show ended. That night all he could talk about was starting a clothing line and all his ideas. He mentioned URB was the first mag he’d advertise with. Even then you could see the passion in his eyes. After that he would stop by the URB offices to show me logo concepts and hand-drawn T-shirt Designs. I am deeply proud Jonas found it worth his time to know me. It was honored to have known him and thankful we remained friends after all these years.

Thanks so much Jonas for everything you have let me experience with LRG. Rest in Peace Jonas…you will never be forgotten.

Lil Wayne and the Aya.

When the Aya Cap first came out it was made as one of the official caps for action sports most biggest tradeshows we know today called Agenda. The first run was ran in limited numbers with the Sky Blue colorway with the cloud imagery. The design of the HI really relates towards everyone around the world as its a nice and simple gesture. Jun just shot an email out that he found on the net and I wanted to share this with all of you.

Thanks so much to all of our great retailers supporting us and without you…these great things would not happen. See link below.
