A really great friend of mine is involved with an awesome project called Solitary Arts.  He and an artist that has a lot to do with our culture is doing this fun project dedicated towards art and Skateboarding.

Yong-Ki and I used to work together for a while at Borders Books and Music and we grew up in similar situations and actually met a long time ago through Skateboarding.  I am really proud of Yong-Ki since he left Hawaii as he is doing really cool things and I wanted to point out some things as I get special care packages when he does new product.

I also keep all these post cards that he makes for all of his events and art shows.

In4mation will be opening its doors this Wednesday for a soft opening and our Grand Opening will be on Saturday October 3rd.  I have not stepped foot in this mall for about 5 years now and its a real eye opener seeing how things have changed over the years.  I spent 4 years working in this mall since the age of 17 and got to really learn things on life and my responsibilities.  I remember at this age I was thinking on what I wanted to do with myself and told myself I would like to pursue a career with apparel or culinary.  I guess I got lucky and got my first choice as I am working in the industry of Apparel and Action Sports.  Working on the new location and getting to work on things ourselves gives us a sense of pride in what we do.  We are very happy on how things turned out in this store and we will be leaking photos of the store in a couple days.  Thanks to everyone who has supported us since the beginning and we are happy to open our 3rd door in the Leeward area of Hawaii and hopefully I get to see some familiar faces while we are there.

I just got word that Eric Stricker has just passed away.  I have to say that Eric has done so much for us in the past and its such a strange story on how we got to actually meet.  8 months after we opened our store we were figuring out how to get more national press going for In4mation.  I had all the magazines layed out on where I thought In4mation would fit and started cold calling everyone at all the magazines.  Strength Magazine was the first place I called and I remember asking Ryan…”Do I just straight call the editor in chief???”  He said go for it so I said fuck it…May I speak to Eric Please??

The rest is history as we all shared the common interests with our lives.  Eric gave us the hugest opportunity to enter this tshirt contest for Strength Magazine and we placed 2nd out of 12 entries.  This was at a time where Rhandy was really thinking on how he can design different for In4mation.

Thanks so much Eric for everything you have done man!!!  Our prayers and condolences are out to Arnette and family.  The Skateboard world has lost someone that has always fought for what he thought was best…friendship and camaraderie.

Just got an email from Raj at Mehrathon and you can see mr. Marcus Troy all geared up with our Lagerfeldy tshirt from Fall 09 season.  Fall 09 has been doing really well with all retailers and we cant wait till you see what we have coming up for Next Year!!!

Life in the streets!

Just got an email from on of my good friends/mentors/counselor Saviour Sanquiche.  Saviour works with Rhandy, Elska, Sean and the rest of the team in the NY headquarters.  Saviour has done a lot in the apparel game and we are lucky to have him with us designing products for In4mation.

Saviour has his own project that he and his crew are doing on the side called Mother Green.  I got to view some of the items and it is really refreshing to see no matter how old we all get we still stick to what we feel is right.

I like to usually post things about business and whats going on with others in the industry but I would like you all to read below as a really close friend of ours Kenny was just diagnosed with Leukemia. As we were getting ready for the Tradeshows and making sure things are all set we were shocked as we have gotten this email early in the morning with the news. Kenny is a true friend and brother and I have gotten to know Kenny through my high school years of Skateboarding at Hickam Air Force Base. Kenny was always 100% Skateboarding and its so weird when things like this happen you really have to take a look at life and know what may or may not happen.

Yong-Ki Chang who has went to high school with Kenny is also a great friend and is living in SF doing his thing with Solitary Arts has made a donation page for Kenny. Please see details below:
