I’m going to be as straightforward as possible about this. The FADER actually never stole anything from you. I found an uncredited photo on the internet and, as you should remember, removed it as soon as I heard from you via Kevin Hunte. I removed it as a courtesy to you and Kevin because I work at a magazine that values its relationships with its professional photographers. You didn’t make anyone do anything, as you claim.

Now, regarding the motivation for your post: we took a humorous jab at Kanye for cutting and pasting an entire photo set of our staff’s personal photos with obvious credits — in the actual post title, under the lead photo and in the body of the post — on his site without giving any credit anywhere to anyone. Beyond the fact that those particular photos meant a lot more to us than many of the ones we post on our site, it’s an obvious breach of conduct.

If you want to draw a parallel between the two situations, that’s your call, but understand that such a parallel is specious. We pulled your photo from a sea of random, mostly amateur results: Kanye copied ours wholesale, including captions, directly from our site.
