Editor’s Notes: After an initial announcement, and ensuing excitement, earlier this year, Uniqlo just dropped its highly-anticipated revival of the Uniqlo x Jil Sander collaboration, Uniqlo +J.

As we had hoped, the collection riffs off the original collab from 2009-2011 with a range of versatile pieces that blend fine tailoring with sculptural shapes and architectural silhouettes.

The line-up includes 32 items for women, 25 items for men, and four accessories including hybrid down styles, utility-inspired jackets, military blousons, and cashmere blend coats, tailored jackets, gabardine pants, luxe oversized shirts, cashmere sweaters, long knit dresses, and sculptural skirts. The high-end details come through in the fine workmanship of pockets, zippers, stitching, panels, and contrast lining, as well as the generous volumes. You can get a feel for how the items look in motion in the video lookbook below.

In a recent interview, Sander shared her thoughts on the fashion zeitgeist and the undervalued function of clothing to simply make us look better than we already do, "Today, we have e-commerce, bloggers, Instagram and much more. Social media is a great motor for the fashion industry. Fashion experienced a resurrection online, albeit with different rules. Yet, I feel that we need more critical discourse online to differentiate between flashy looks and designs that actually improve the looks of real human beings.”

Uniqlo also speaks to founder of 10 Corso Como Carla Sozanni, creative director Grace Coddington, fashion designer Christophe Lemaire, and model Allana Brito to see why this collaboration is proving to be such a success of high street meets high fashion.
