When it comes to collaboration, Swatch is the blueprint. Over the years, the Swiss watchmaker has allowed a fleet of high-profile artists and celebrities free reign over its ubiquitous timepiece. Among the long list of recognisable names are Jean-Michel Basquiat, David LaChapelle (featuring Amanda Lepore), Vivienne Westwood, Keith Haring, Jeremy Scott, Tony Hawk, Damien Hirst, Kiki Picasso... we could go on. It's much the same story with Japanese artist VERDY. A key player in Tokyo's street art scene and with a style that's recognisable worldwide, he's recently collaborated with Kenzo, Levi's, Nike, Budweiser, and even McDonald's China. Oh, and the Minions (duh). So, with all this sleeping around, it seemed only a matter of time before Swatch and VERDY got together themselves.

Introducing: Vick. Vick is one of VERDY's most famous creations—an adorable, cartoonish, part-panda, part-rabbit character whose relentless positivity is matched only by his passion for punk music and rebellion. To us at least, he sounds like a riot. And now, thanks to Swatch, you can take him anywhere you like, perched perfectly on your wrist.

The VICK BRONZE BY VERDY limited edition watch comes in a classy metallic colorway—perhaps a little unexpected given the pop-art subject matter, and, given that Vick has only ever appeared in black and white, a shake-up for his creator too. The bronze makeover is great news for versatile outfit pairing though. As for Vick, you’ll find him hanging out both on the face on the watch and down the sides of the strap (plus, look closely and you’ll find his tongue changes color every day).

This isn't Vick's only unexpected appearance this month. At the Venice Biennale stands an enormous, Swatch-commissioned, 4-metre tall cast of VERDY's fun-loving character, overseeing proceedings at one of the world’s most prestigious art events. It's a reminder from Swatch and VERDY not to take life too seriously—a reminder that, if you're wise, you'll install on your wrist.
