MSCHF, the Brooklyn-based art collective known for its polarizing designs, is back with yet another footwear release that is sure to go viral. Following the Wavy Baby collaboration with Tyga, the Supernormal “Coke White,” and the Gobstomper with Jimmy Fallon, MSCHF unleashes the AC1, the first-ever medical walking boot made to be worn as high-fashion footwear. The outlandish creation finds MSCHF once again testing the boundaries of design and overall style, positioning the shoe in a high-fashion market where historically, anything goes. Constructed from TPU, neoprene, and EVA, the AC1 pairs a flexible, molded rubber outer with a cushioned inner bootie that is completely removable (and can seemingly be worn on its own), while featuring two adjustable Velcro straps to keep you locked in. While minimal, branding is implemented by way of discreet MSCHF and AC1 logos on the exterior, footbed, and outsole. One thing’s for certain when it comes to the AC1. If you’re looking to turn heads, it will undoubtedly do the trick. Or at the very least, elicit preferential treatment around town.
