The 1940s ushered in some welcomed changes to Levi’s iconic 501 jean. Adhering to the times and an emerging middle class, the silhouette was cut for a slimmer fit, as extraneous details like the cinch and suspender buttons were removed. For the first time since the start of the war, the 501 was made with watch pocket rivets and double-needle technology, which could now be mass-produced. Constructed entirely using selvedge denim, the jeans were finished with a logo patch at the back waist and a Levi’s flag label at the back right pocket.
