As with most Port Tanger frames, the Mektoub is made predominantly by hand in Italy, using fine acetate derived from cotton and alcohol with minimal use of chemicals. The style gets its name from a philosophical Arabic saying, meaning “it is written,” and ultimately draws from the synchronicity between land and sea, of which the Moroccan city of Tangier is known for. With curved frames as its signature, Port Tanger designs glasses like the Mektoub to embrace nearly every facial structure.
