Editors Notes: South Korean label ADER Error has paired up with Birkenstock and it's brought a hi-tech spin to centuries-old footwear models.
Having been in business for almost 250 years (since 1774 to be exact), Birkenstock has a proven track record in footwear design. This has made it an in-demand collaborator, pairing up with everyone from Dior and Manolo Blahnik to Stussy and Dingyung Zhang for hyped collabs in the past year.
ADER Error is the latest label to join in the fun, introducing the brand to its surreal future-focused world.
Three of Birkenstock's most popular models: Arizona, Gizeh, and Milano, have all been subject to a utilitarian refresh as part of this collaboration.
The three sandals come with the brand's signature cork sole unit, which has been upgraded through a suede leather footbed, along with a cobranded eco-friendly PVC label. However, the standout detail is clunky closures that are added to the upper, described in a statement as a "professional high-tech buckle."
An anomaly in the collection is the A630. For starters, it doesn't have the word "tech" added to its name like the others but also it also isn't a sandal. The clogs are a main player in the ongoing mule-ment and drop in an all-black colorway for this collab.
Crafted from water, oil, and grease-resistant materials that have made them popular amongst chefs, the clogs join the three other models by having the same suede leather footbed and blue co-branded label.
