Going Platinum: American Express and Equinox Take High Performance Living to New Heights
Among many other things, 2023 was undoubtedly the year of imaginative health practices. From the girls getting back outside to partake in their "Daily Hot Girl Walks" to the much-needed digital detox, individual well-being was at the forefront of everyone's mind these past 365 days. Putting all passing trends to rest, American Express and Equinox teamed up once again to elevate exercise to new heights, proving that personal health is the one thing that should be more than a fleeting TikTok fad––a stance Equinox continuously espouses day in and day out.
Spanning over five months, American Express and Equinox's second installment of the Platinum Series invited Platinum Card Members to various exclusive exercise and wellness-based activations hosted at iconic locations in key cities nationwide. These events immersed guests in a world of movement and mindfulness.
Pickleball & Tennis at Arthur Ashe Stadium
Kicking off this year's series, American Express and Equinox set up shop at the renowned Arthur Ashe Stadium for an afternoon tennis and pickleball clinic. Following a tour of the historic US Open venue, guests were put through a series of drills and games designed to take their performance to the next level, all curated by Grand Slam Winner and burgeoning pickleball enthusiast Andy Roddick.
Guests got a feel for the pro experience, playing on the same courts that countless tennis greats have graced in the past. Receiving a care package that included branded swag, guests walked away with all the essentials needed to tighten up that backhand serve.
Pilates & Meditation at Brooklyn Museum
Guests' not-so-typical night at the museum began with a walk-through of the featured exhibition It's Pablo-matic: Picasso According to Hannah Gadsby, an immersive glance into the world of contemporary artistry. After the conclusion of the private preview, members moved toward the famed Beaux-Arts Court, where the center of the museum had been transformed from a cultural epicenter into a full-on Pilates studio for the evening—and that's not a stretch.
Working through an invigorating yet serene low-intensity Pilates session, participants closed out the second event in the series with a focused sonic meditation, finding a centered balance within the museum's hallowed walls.
Yoga & Meditation at Sheats-Goldstein Residence
In August, American Express and Equinox landed in Los Angeles for its most exclusive moment yet. Hosted at the illustrious Sheats-Goldstein Residence, high in the Hollywood Hills, members were invited on an intimate stroll through the grounds of the landmark homestead before taking part in a meditation practice at Club James and yoga on the lower lawn.
With the sprawling "City of Angels" set as the backdrop, Platinum Members communed in the welcoming presence of one another while soaking in the warm California sun.
Full-body Workout at Equinox Century City
As the penultimate activation, the dynamic pair headed down to Equinox's Century City flagship, where attendees got up close and personal with the luxury fitness brand, bringing the members club to life like never before.
Having the chance to explore the extravagant facility, guests could opt for a range of high and low-intensity full-body exercises that challenged them to push themselves past their perceived limits. Made even more special by Equinox's bevy of seasoned instructors, this club experience was indeed unlike any other.
Yoga & Meditation at Rubell Museum
Serving as the finale of the Platinum Series, the dynamic partnership took a trip to Miami to bring the interactive journey to a fitting close. Visiting the iconic Rubell Museum, the preeminent destination in the South Beach art scene, American Express and Equinox ended their custom series with another circuit of wellness-fueled excursions.
From mid-intensity yoga flows (led by instructor Lisa Braun) to a meditative sound bath, guests' time at the Rubell merged the impressive artwork with health-forward practices, making this trip a fitting end to the latest installment of the popular series.
As we turn the page on a new year, prioritizing our mental and physical well-being is hopefully the one resolution that actually sticks this time around. And with Amex x Equinox already plotting out even bigger health happenings for Platinum card members in 2024, this seems as good of a time as any to finally follow through on that elusive exercise regimen.
