Improv Jam Session At Our Flagship Store? Thanks, Android
Sometimes, you have to step out of the box. Flip the script. Embrace the unknown.
Today, creativity is less about organization or predictability — instead, it’s more unconventional and chaotic, and it’s this creative chaos that serves as a catalyst for innovation. When you push the boundaries, creativity thrives, and unexpected ideas are born.
Known for their forward-thinking attitude, Gen Z are experts when it comes to showcasing creative chaos, especially digitally. Their approach reflects a world where chaos isn’t feared but welcomed, be it in art, fashion, design, or music. Let’s take the latter for now.
If someone gave you a bunch of random words to incorporate into a song, do you reckon you could freestyle and make it work? We put this challenge to the test in our very first collaborative Bot Sessions with Android — and let me tell you, the performance we got was nothing short of musical magic.
If you aren’t familiar with singer Noah Slee, then you’re in for a treat. The Berlin-based director, musician, and composer was at the helm of our first Bot Sessions with his Expressions Ensemble (aka his special singing crew). “To me, music is everything, it borders obsession. As a solo experience or a shared experience, it is constantly giving a range of colors and emotions. It’s life,” he says.
Noah SleeBot Sessions was a reminder to always sharpen your tools and try new things. I learned a lot about collaboration and how you feed off each other's energy.
Our Highsnobiety store in the heart of Berlin transformed into a creative musical hub, where an improv jam session took place powered by, yes, Android, but also the members of the crowd. How? Let’s find out.
For Android, the goal was simple. It was about empowering people to embrace unpredictability, own the chaos, and express their authentic selves. With this idea of spontaneity and creativity in mind, the performance aspect of the evening became a collaborative journey between the singers and the audience. Again, how? Well, Android devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 and the Google Pixel 9 Pro are literally designed to foster this kind of daily chaotic creativity with their accessible, innovative and AI-powered features.
Our audience members sent random words and prompts into a livechat through their phones which Slee had flashing up before him. “With this kind of performance, you're right on the edge of the cliff most of the time, but it’s when you stop overthinking that you realize you can float, and it’s a feeling you don’t get in many other experiences. You just got to surrender to the flow.” Really feeling and feeding off the energy of the room, Slee picked out his favorite words, weaving them into the musical performance with his crew, which by the way, included not only singing, but a guitar, drums, trumpet, and beatmaker. “I was kindly surprised at how collective joy and energy can be expressed and experienced with people — it can really take off, and the electricity is why I love what I do.”
It wasn’t just through the livechat that Android helped give rise to the infectious energy of the jam session. A couple of our audience members, Jobel Mok and Michael Hastreit, showed us other ways of using some of the exclusive features that really came in handy throughout the night.
Hastreit tested out Gemini*, an AI assistant from Google, available on Android, by asking it to sift through his emails, find his invite for the show, and give him directions to the Highsnobiety store for the performance. “There was a special energy in the room. I had such a good time with beautiful characters on and off the stage. I also felt I had the space to open myself completely — definitely an experience to remember,” he explains.
Jobel MokBot Sessions connected us in a way that made it feel like we all knew each other before and went together as friends. Music is a big part of my life, and being able to share this moment was so special
Meanwhile, Mok (who was loving sending prompts in for Noah and The Expressions Ensemble), had her eye on Slee’s jumper throughout the performance but didn’t know where it was from. Android had the answer with its Circle to Search** feature. All Mok had to do was open the camera and circle Slee’s jumper. Circle to Search allowed her to search for the jumper’s source right where she was, without switching apps. “Just me playing around with the phone on set made me curious to know more about the features hidden in the phone. One thing I can definitely say is that it's going to somehow make your life a bit easier!”
