Swedish Officials Shut Down A$AP Rocky's Formal Request to Perform in Prison
A$AP Rocky has been denied the chance to perform at the Swedish prison he was held at earlier this year, despite making a formal request, TMZ reports.
Last month, Rocky surprised fans when he announced that he would be returning to Sweden following his highly-publicized assault trial in Stockholm. Now it has been disclosed that as part of his “triumphant” return, the rapper planned on performing in the prison where he was detained.
Citing security and logistics issues, Vilhelm Grevik of Sweden’s Prison and Probation Service told the Swedish daily newspaper Svenska Dagbladet that the Harlem rapper has been denied from performing at the prison.
While the prison performance didn't pan out, Rocky is still intent back on “giving back” to the facility, announcing in November that he's designed a line of uniforms for that precise jail. A$AP Rocky will also perform at Stockholm’s Ericsson Globe on December 11. A portion of proceeds from the show will go to local charity FARR, the Swedish Network of Refugee Support Groups.
